Child safety seat inspector states he has come across a few century smart move safety seats where the reclining mechanism does not lock while in rear facing position. consumer states that the bar that locks the seat in proper recline position appears to be missing, model 4709 fox, dom 24-may-1999.  view

Between 20 and 40 miles per hour the transmission started to slip at about 40,000 miles. i took it into the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem on call. they told me to replace the transmission fluid. this seemed to make the problem better for a while. finally it got worse and worse. at 69,000 miles i took the car into a different dealer. they will replace the transmission with a re-manufactured one from acura.  view

The driver side upper ball joint failedcoming out of a mcdonalds making a left turn at slow speed. i pulled it over immediately and had it towed. i have the part (upper ball joint) and it is very mangled. i ahve not been in any accidents, hit any curves, and get them lubed every 3,000 miles when i have the oil changed. i really would hate to have seen this happen on the highway at 65 or 70 mph. the only thing i asked the dealer is if the part was under recall. they said no. the $975.00 is for replacement of all the ball joints. i did not feel comfortable changing just the one just in case. i do have all the parts. if you want them i can send them to you. i am not doing this to get out of paying the bill. i have already payed it in full. it bothers me that it happened because i go out of my way to make sure that my vehicle is maintained properly. another point is that i had new tires put on three weeks ago, with an alignment, and supposedly everything was ok then.  view

While operating the vehicle on the expressway with the cruise control on, the brake was applied and the cruise control failed to disengage. driver turned cruise control off manually to avoid accident. problem was reported to dealer who advised that there was a faulty brake light switch and that the vehicle also had no brake light activation. there is no warning light to advise of problem with brake system. dealer employee advised there are numerous incidents and switch has been redesigned at least once. no recall or notice of this safety problem has been sent. this problem could lead to a serious high speed accident, as cruise does not disengage when brake pedal is depressed to stop or slow vehicle. upon release of brake vehicle surged and accelerated forward to regain speed. vw is aware of this and is concealing this problem to avoid notification/recall.  view
