1988 BMW 750 User Comment / Complaint

This is the second incident of this kind since i purchased this car in 9/1998. the first incident occurred in 2/99. i did not report that one, because i wasn't aware that i could. in both instances, i was driving and noticed that my car was acting stange, driving rough like a flat tire. i was able to pull over to the side of the road both times (guardian angel must have been watching out for me). i looked for a flat, and did not see one, so i proceeded to drive away, when the noise was much louder (metal against metal). when i got out of the vehicle, the right rear wheel (same wheel both times) was on a diagonal. all of the lug nuts were severed off and the wheel came off with just a pull. the second time this occurred (2/11/2002) i did report it to ford and to my insurance company. i am very concerned that this not happen to someone else, who may not be as lucky as i was. whenever i have my car serviced on a regular basis. i had new brakes installed in 7/2002, and that was the last time that my wheel had been worked on. i had my wheels checked after a few days, as i have aluminum rims. everything was fine, not too tight, etc. has this issue ever been brought up to you?? thank you for any information that you can provide in this regard! i do not know anything about the vehicle prior to my purchase in 9/1998.  view

Engine stalls at 30 mph after letting off of the gas. losing all power assist the steering and brakes as it did this weekend on a mountain road in ar. while slowing down for a 10 mph curve.... if my wife had been driving she cound not have made the turn and been down the mountain side !!! this problem has persisted sinc e arround sept 2000. most of the time they cannot duplicate problem. last time i left the car for several days. when it stalled they replaced the crank sensors, now it stalls at 30 mph instead of at stops only !!!  view

The original transmission started to leak in dec. 2001, i took it in and found there was a leak and in order to fix it the whole transmission would have to be replaced. this was done under ext warranty, luckily, got the car back 2-2-02, and the re-man carried a 3yr/36k warranty. now as of feb. 2002 the transmission leaking again, i have once again taken it back to my local 5 star dealer, carlin dodge, and they are forced to order another re-man, due to the fact that, parts cannot be replaced on this tranny, the whole unit must be replaced. this is an outrage, and the manufacturer knew these trannies would fail when they were put in, ie: mitsu and getrag, something needs to be done, these trannies could go with no warning and cause injury or death while driving down the road, it is a lawsuit waiting to happen.  view

The vehicle is in awd or 4-wheel drive - step on the gas after being stopped, the transmission sounds as if it is about to fall off. when in 4-wheel drive the vehicle is difficult to turn. also, rear heater takes 30 minutes to heat up, and then only blows luke warm air when the gas pedal is depressed. manufacurer states by design.  view

While traveling approximately 65 mph, in a 1992 nissan maxima front/ left firestone affinity tire, size: p215/60r15, dot: unknown experienced a blowout. tire has not been examined to determine a cause for this incident. there were approximately 500 miles on the tires, and it was not original equipment for vehicle. please provide any additional information / documentation.  view

When applying the brakes at speeds of 35-55 mph the entire vehicle shakes violently. the steering wheel also vibrates to a point where i feel i will loose control of the vehicle. i first noticed the problem at 8,000 miles and i immediately notified the les vogel dealership who charged me $50.00 to inspect the brake system. after their inspetion they told me that the rotors will warp when they overheat and cause the vehicle to shake and that it is not a problem. now at 21,000 miles the vibrating has increased even when applying the brakes at lower speeds. it feels as if the vehicle will not stop in time and this is a major safety issue.  view

This intake valve has been replaced once already on my car in march of 2000, now less than two years later i am having to have it replaced again at a cost of 650.00, i have been informed by the dealers service dept. that chevrolet is now making a better intake valve because this has been a problem in the malibus, if this is the case they should handle some of this cost if not all. thank you  view

While driving, consumer experienced a tire blowout, consumer then experienced 2 more tire failures on separate occasions, consumer was informed that tires had a very short life span, after sending the second tire to the manufacturer consumer was informed that the tires showed abuse and severe impact and that the tires were driven with low pressure to cause the sidewalls to weaken.
