1991 MERCURY CAPRI User Comment / Complaint

While driving 20-25mph right rear tire blewout due to a gash in sidewall. this caused driver to lose control momentarily. dealer says it was caused by a road hazard. yokohoma tire, p265/70r15, dot number fbefm5m418.  view

We had a blowout of tire - tire was correctly inflated. cost of changing tire was $55.00 the tire had 6000 miles and firestone store charged me half price of a new tires - $68.00 would not do full replacement of tire which i think they should have. firstone steeltex-radial r4s lt225/75r16m5  view

Vehicle was experiencing same problem as mentioned in recall 00v268000 for a fuel leakage. dealer has been contacted for this problem, and informed consumer that this vehicle was included in recall due to vin. please provide further details.  view

Right front outside tie-rod end separated at the ball/socket joint. this occured while turning into a driveway so speed was not a factor. these tie-rod ends are factory sealed so maintenance is impossible.  view

While traveling on highway vehicle suddenly died. consumer took vehicle to dealer, and dealer stated that timing chain broke. 119 miles later, timing chain broke again in less than 24 hours. dealer had vehicle for a total of 75 days. currently, dealer was saying that oil pump cracked. consuner insisted that there could have been a serious accident. please provide any further information.  view

While driving at any speed electrical system operates erratically, causing gauges on instrument panel to malfunction. dealership informed consumer that this vehicle was not affected by recall 94v024000. no determination has been made as to the cause of this problem. please provide any additional information / attachments.  view

Consumer installed purolator, model pro 806, fuel filter, and drove vehicle about 300 miles. while driving about 50 mph he smelled fuel, pulled over and opened hood. fuel filter had exploded and fuel was all over engine compartment. part of filter was made of plastic, it used to be made of glass.  view

While traveling at speeds in excess of 50 mph there was vibration in vehicle which concerned driver. dealership has examined vehicle, and determined that wheels could not be aligned because tires slid along the rim. consumer had to purchase new tires from a sears center. please provide any additional information / attachments, i.e., general tire information/ size, and dot numbers.  view

Evenflo model # 2541113p2, dom 02/28/2000;a bolt came out of base of child safety seat. right side of child safety seat failed to remain attached and secured to the base. please provide any additional information / attachments.  view

Windshield wipers operate intermittently and fail completely during inclement weather. dealership informed consumer that this vehicle was not affected by any recalls, and had made no determination as to cause of problem.  view
