Gas fumes can be smelled inside and outside the vechicle when outside temps reach over 105 degress. has been witnessed by two chevrolet service managers and head mechanic. has been serviced 5 times by bradley cheverot and i have been told that the regional rep has stated that the fumes both visable and odor are very normal. both the service manager and head mechanic have stated that they feel the car is not safe and would not put their families in my vehicle. the vechile smells up my entire home with gas fumes and has to be parked outside of the garage. the engineers have asked that a couple of parts be changed on my vechile to pasaify me, but that it is probably my fault, i must have over filled the gas tank - and i was asked "just what exactly are you doing mrs. anderson to cause this problem?". i have been told by the dealership that several cars in las vegas and texas have reported the same problems.

Over a period of several weeks, the transmission behaved erraticallty, often shifting out of gear into neutral or from neutral into drive. these shifts would occur when the engine was running but with no one touching the gear shift lever. most often, this occurred at stop signs or lights. then, on june 20, the transmission shifted into low gear on its own and remained locked there. fortunately, no accidents or injuries have occurred. however, since taking the vehicle in for transmission repair or replacement, the dealer seems unable to fix the vehicle and has not been able to return it to me. this suggests a substantial and potentially inherent transmission problem with serious safety implications.

I am experiencing a problem where the my auto is idling in park and then lurches into reverse. i have contacted the dealership and they are treating me like what i describe is impossible and ignoring my complaint. i have a date scheduled for repair and its my guess the people at chrysler know that this is a major defect in the auto and are trying to sweep it under the carpet. also my transmission is dragging they acknowledged that problem and are to repair it soon. i wish i had never bought this death trap. i have also talked with several other jeep owners and most report some problems when the auto is in reverse.

Speedometer/odometer inaccurate at speeds above 40 mph. odometer records 1.4 miles per every mile at highway speeds and speedometer shows actual speed plus 10-25 mph with a bouncing needle. many other owners seem to have the same problem as local dealer mentioned large number of inquiries for the specific part.
