1988 SUBARU GL User Comment / Complaint

Brakes would randomly not operate properly. would fail to stop vehicle when applied. brake pedal would drop,but not to floor. would go through stop lights and intersections. took vehicle to dealer , it was test driven. mechanic replaced master cylinder. but, problem still exists.  view

Was traveling 70 mph and had just went over a bridge heard a thumping noise. started to slow down. noticed in rear view mirror that tread had separated from right rear tire and was left on the road. 1991, ford, ltd, p215/70r15 with 53,000 miles.  view

Brought van to attention of dealer d/t driver's side seat was not at upright position, could not be returned to upright position. dealer lubricated it, charged us $40. did not solve the problem. returned van to dealer after seeing similar reports reported on this site. dealer set up appointment for van to be returned to have a bracket replaced. unable to fix at our appointment d/t they hadn't ordered the part. mechanic stated that van was unsafe to drive, kept van while awaiting part arrival several days later. replaced bracket at third appointment. seat markedly worse, "spongy" as well as reclined. obviously no support, seat could be reclined by pushing with hand, no need to release lever. dealer insisted car was safe to drive. ordered additional parts. unable to service car at fourth appointment d/t service department didn't have time. did provide rental replacement. at fifth appointment, both seat track railings ("adjuster 23047006") were replaced; one was obviously broken. this solved the problem and seat now works properly and safely.  view

I purchased this car because it was advertised as a fuel efficent vehical. they advertised 31 mpg in city driving 38-42 highway. i have had the car for 4 months. never used the air conditioner. drove moderately and am getting 19 mpg. i guaged it by the number of gal. pumped not from gas guage in car. i have reciepts and a log of all miles and gallons put into the car. the dealer tested it and said it was getting 26.3 driving 10-30 mph. i am unable to get even that which is a substancial amount different than the amount advertised. i am dissapointed and frustrated with the performance and would like to notify honda.  view

The rod is loose. dealer says the engine must be replace. this is our 3rd major cmplt. financially, we're overspent maintaining this vehicle. please help!  view

Vehicle had to be flatbed to dalership numerous times due to not starting after stalling out in middle of traffic. sometimes, vehicle could be restarted but would stall out. was informed by mechanic would need a new engine and new controller box. owner feels it was an electrical problem.  view

All four firestone atx tires size: p265/75r15, dot: w29vin3424 are showing signs of blistering and tread separation. there is vibration in vehicle during normal operation. there are approximately 40,000 miles on these tires, and they are original equipment on 1995, ford, f150.  view
