1993 GMC G25 User Comment / Complaint

This vehicle had both front disc pads replaced at 9,500 miles. the disk brake rotors on both sides were replaced at 10,500 miles. at 14,900 both front calipers, brake pads, and disk rotors will be replaced again. it steering shakes violently upon braking above 30 mph, any brake actuation malkes multiple noices that indicate obvious disk brake stress failure, both front wheels exhibts great quantities of burned in brake dust. this problem has been also experienced by two friends who have similar vehicles. it is obvious there is a serious, life safety manufacturing defect in the disk brake system. gm dealership has replaced parts without question or argument (which should immediately alert you to the fact that they are well aware of a widespread problem). there is no recall on this vehicle for this. mentioning the problem to the local dealship mechanics and service personnel produces an immediate, no-argumentative recognition that the problem and system failures obviously exist and are well known (to them). in fact, one mentioned they were saving the parts taken off the 99 malibu's for a gm enginner who was coming to inspect them. this is an extrememly serious life safety issue that has not been publicised and owners have simply be given replacement parts, only to have to replace them again and again. brakes are the first line of safety and this cars disk brakes in the front are simply unreliable. it may be that the juneau, alaska very humid environment is part of the problem. no matter, gm is dragging this out for whatever purpose. the problem is obvious.  view

I tried to explain to mr. jay w/ chrysler corporation that my vehicle is having the same problem as indicated in nhtsa campaign id number 98v183000, but he was not interested..  view

Second master cylinder was purchased from subaru service center, but failed in less than a year and approximately 8,000 miles.  view

Problem has existed since the vehicle was new. engine shuts off without prior warning or symptoms. i was traveling approx,. 70 miles per hour on a seattle freeway when the "engine fail" light came on. no power brakes, no power steering, no power! the car must be put into "park" to restart. manufacture has been aware of a "computer" glitch and promised a recall. none to date. the computer has been replaced and problem still exists. i met another jag owner at the dealership that experienced the identical problem. the car is a hazard to drive.  view

Whenever brakes are in use vehicle can slow up, but fails to stop right away. stopping distance is increased. had hit a wall & a fence due to a lack of braking power. vehicle equipped with abs which was not the problem. brake pedal went to the floor. also, parking brake went to floor. taken vehicle to dealership at least 6 or 7 times. now pursuing the lemon law. battery failed. vehicle stalled. exhaust leaks and is loud. air comes through the center vent when the floor control is on. 4-wheel drive would not engage due to a short in the module. fuel sending unit was replaced.  view

Tansmission rear seal replaced, continued to slip, then the power steering pump went out air ride system was replaced both left and right 4 times (2) front (2) rear.. electrical system malfunctioned alarm would go off while driving locks whould lock on you while trying to enter car if you could bet the locks the alarm would go off .. alternator went out agter i was told they could not find any problem with the electrical system. vibration in car whild driving and idiling. over heated new radiator and thermostat, 2 timing belts, intake gaskets numerous other parts to get rid of vibratation engine has been torn down 3 times its now in a engine shop. engine may need to be replaced. i have been without my car since aug.2, 2000.  view
