I had a blow out june 2000. the blow out occurred on the driver's side front tire. the tire was a firestone wilderness ht, and for no apperent reason the tire just blow out. the tire had approximately 7000 miles on it. i bought the tire in nov. of 1999.( dot number: tire size: p225/70r14 )  view

I had to replace my brake pads about 4 months after i bought my car, now it seems that i have to replace them again, i know i drive alot by 6months of buying a car you should not need brake pads that much. i think there is something wrong within the braking systems that is causing the pads to worn too fast, i think this needs to be checked out quickly  view

Tire delaminated completely but bladder did not deflate. no crash, but left rear of vehicle was damaged by tread as it left vehicle. tire was submitted to firestone under claim number 019721. they replaced the tire and paid insurance deductible but did not advise as to cause of failure. they sent me a check for $397.76 with a letter dated december 10,1999. the remainder of the claim was paid by my insurance company, usaa.( dot number: udhc1py516 tire size: 23575r15 )  view

Firestone wilderness ht right rear tire p235/70r16 began to shread along sidewall while driving, consumer safely pulled to the shoulder and put on spare, tire did not experience a blowout.  view

Brought into dealer on numerous occassions in regards to brake pedal hard and brake fade at start up. failure to come to full stop when brake is first applied after car stands overnight or period of time. dealer replaced sealant and fuse on abs sensors, master cylinder and abs pump motor. dealer replace climate control box because of water runoff through climate box seam. front stablizer link rod was replaced because found to be worn and defective.  view

The check engine light came on after the firstsmog check requiredthis year 2000. the dealer reset it the first time. then it came on again around town at 30mph. this is a still a new car less than 25,000 when it first started. i don't feel we should keep paying to get it repaired i understand that it can be up to approx 17 different things to set it off. at about $400 ea that's expensive. i also find it odd that it just started with a smog check.  view

We understood there was supposed to be a $1000. rebate on the purchase of a new gm vehicle due to the fire problems caused by the location of the dual gas tanks on certain year models of gm trucks. how can we get this rebate??  view

Transmission failed, engine surged while traveling on highway, sounded like the transmission shifted out of overdrive and fourth gear, followed by loss of power in gear. nlm  view

While driving home from jackson,ms on interstate 20 on sat. july8,2000, our car started vibrating and making a noise. my daughter asked what was wrong and what to do. i told her that i thought we had a blow out. i instructed her to brake and slow down as much and as fast as possible and try to keep the car on the road. the vehicle was slowing down and she was maintaining control until something stopped the car from rolling and she lost control as if something was physically pulling the wheel hard to the right. she then lost complete control and the car started turning to the right. we then hit a bridge abutment on the driver's side, the car spinned completely around from the first impact with the bridge and then we hit the bridge on the passenger's front side, we were knocked clear of the bridge and headed down an embankment toward a large stand of pines and the car came to rest just past the driving lane on the highway. we had a witnesses from dallas, texas, also driving an suv, who told us that they saw the entire accident and that there was nothing my daughter could have done differently because they could see the steel belt of the tire get caught up in the mechanism under the car and then she lost total control. we were told by the state trooper who accompanied us to the emergency room that he was glad we hit the bridge like we did because if we had not we would have probably rolled or hit the stand of pines after going airborne head on. he stated that he had seen numerous occasions in a situation like ours that the occupants of the vehicle were critically hurt or killed. my husband and i feel that the firestone company and/or the ford manufacturer should replace our vehicle with a new one and at the least, pay our medical expenses which were minimal according to the terrible accident we had. we are lucky to be alive! we will not stop until every one we are acquainted with knows how negligent the manufacturers are in this matter.  view

Brakes are so bad that when step on brake pad it goes to the bottom of the floor panel . if going at avergae speed to stop instant do not count stopping any time cause the brake system is so bad, yes we have take it to the shop. they are tired seeing us their . also suggest that i sell the car. they don 't under stand that this a hazard problem my life is an danger in the road cause of this brakes.this has being a problem still we got the car. the just do not want to hear about. we have drive other car and the brakes are like that. hope you can make a different to avoid any danger matters out in the road. the other was driving in the middle of rush hour the windshield rubber seal flys off out now where. then call dealer had to wait a week now that suggest not to drive on the freeway or go slow by living in a fast city it easy to put my life in danger. would like know what rate the car is rate cause my insurance rate in up cause of preforms of the kia but they did not that informantion the suggest you all for the answer. thank you . mrs . escobedo now you can after six pacific at home or mr. escobedo at work. thanks.  view

Police report states that vehicle ran into an expedition. most of the report was unclear. driver had suffered a heart attack on the way to hospital, and could not remember any other details at this time. vehicle was totaled. upon impact, air bags did not deploy.  view

Pe0002, original equipment, tire size p23575r15, dot # vnhl1py436. all four tires firestone wilderness at had cracked around tread and sidewall, bigger than a hairline crack. firestone said it was due to normal wear and tear.  view

A friend who is in the tire business called me out to look at my tires on that morning. he showed me how the tire wall was shredding and that was not normal and urged me to bring my truck to the shop immediately, so i did. at that time, i did not realize that it could be a manufacturer's defect, even though my friend insisted that tires should not tear like that. having viewed the recent news releases about this happening, i decided to log my complaint. the salesperson at firestone told me that the repair could not be made, so i would have to purchase a new tire, which i did. since then, i have incurred another flat tire. this time it was a nail, however when the tire was completely deflated, there were some threads that were partially shredded, however i was advised by firestone that the shredding was not the cause of the tire flat and was assured that it was normal to have some separation. now i am concerned for my safety, but can not afford to purchase a new set of tires.( dot number: tire size: p23570r16 )  view

Pe-00-020, replacement tires on a ford f350 1990, tire size p23585r16, dot number not available. consumer had two sets of tires; first set had 20 thousand miles on them, in which three out of four tires blewout; two tires were on the rear , third blowout on the front. second set, one out of four tires blewout at 10 thousands miles ,tire was on the passenger side front. tires have been replaced with another brand. please provide any further details.  view

Pe00020, original equipment 1997 suburban, tire size lt24575r16, made in canada. all four tires have crackes or splits around tread and sidewall which may cause the tread to separate. please provide further information.  view

Recall 99v066001. ball joint separated from steering knuckle, causing driver to lose control and cause damage to vehicle. under the recall, dealer only replaced one of the ball joints, and the others caused the collision. dealer nor manufacturer will replace the other boot as stated in the recall.  view

When making a left or right turn turn signal indicator will not remain latched within the mechanism. lever will latch in if vehicle is moving straight on, but will not if vehicle is turning left or right.  view

When driving on highway with cruise control engaged and when attempting to disengage cruise control, it would not disengage, causing unwanted accleration, vehicle continued to gain speed. in order to stop vehicle, consumer had to remove key from the ignition and place vehicle in neutral. consumer has contacted dealer. dealer has ordered parts from the manufacturer. please provide any further details.  view

On 4/28/00 i had my tires checked at firestone. replaced front two tires. mileage on vehicle was 56,405. back two tires had plenty of tread and did not need replacing. reason for replacing front tires was cupping on inside of front tires. on 7/12/00 the back left tire blew out on the interstate at 70 mph. car went off road and flipped three times...totalling vehicle. suffered broken ribs, concussion and other injuries. Original transmission failed at 35,000 miles replaced by a factory rebuilt dealer tranny. second tranny failed at 43000, dealer stated that no factory rebuilts were available. rebult transmission inhouse. both transmissions failed due to shifting from 1 to neutral. after the repair of the second transmission the car started to accelerate by itself . starting from a stop , pressing on the accelerator pedal the car shifts from 1 to 2 nd to 3rd , if i take my foot off the accelerator pedel the car continues to gain speed and the tach needle does not drop down but continues to stay in the 2 to 3 thousand rpm range, it i put the tranny in neutral the tach need jumps up to 3,000 rpms.  view

Dealer sold consumer a vehicle with dryrotted tires which were cracking badly, dealer stated that since they were not on recall they wouldn't replace them (firestone wilderness at p235/75r15 w2hl). nlm  view

Tail light ass'ys replaced under warranty per service bulletin (approx. 1995) because trunk stops weren't high enough and trunk would close on taillight, puncturing lens, then fill up with water and blow out bulbs. approx. 3 years later, i rec'd a ticket from chp because of no tail lights or brake lights. same problem. i covered hole with silicone and replaced the bulbs. later, the blinkers/flashers stopped working, then the horn quit and dealer says it may a crimped wire which also killed the ac. one other person i know with a similar jetta also has blinkers/flashers that stopped working, then their horn...  view

Pe00-020; tires size p235750r15 with 10,000 miles and original equipment on ford, explorer, sport trac, 2001. 3 out of 4 tires have developed visible hairline cracks,right where the lettering is located. firestone said they will replace tire but at consumer's expense.  view

When applying brakes while going over railroad tracks vehicle would shimmy & make grinding noises. brake pads would be spongy & would be wearing out excessively. brake rotors have been resurfaced service times. entire brake system was replaced at least 8 different times & now needs to be replaced again. abs braking system are kelsey hayes.  view

While driving vehicle, it would stall out without any warning. was not able to restart vehicle. had it towed to dealer. mechanic indicated the problem was broken water pump. water pump was replaced in 1996, & currently its 2000, and same stalling problem has reappeared.  view

Pe00 020; consumer was traveling about 70mph on highway and heard a noise and vibrations. she pulled over to the shoulder and noticed that front driver's tire tread had separated . firestone, #wilderness #at, p23575r15. she has contacted firestone, an dis waiting for a response.  view

Consumer was not notified of recall on tires which were practically bald at 14,400 miles. while driving the vehicle would skid off the road when turning into driveway and while driving in the snow (firestone/bridgestone all season radial, tires size p19565sr14). nlm  view

While driving oil indicator light came on -lost all oil in engine. balance shaft seal popped out along with cam shaft seal resulted in loss of all oil no prior warning. cost 483.22 repaired at dealership. all belts required to be changed. manufacturer refuses to accept resp for cost. dealership did not inform of service bulliten notification dtd 10/96. clip needed to be installed to avoid re-ocurrance.nhtsa should be made aware that these clips are being installed on cars when belts are changed for masintenance at 90,000. but what of the owners where their engines are destroyed because honda refuses to make the necessary repair before problem occurrs. they refuse to supply me with complete copy of service bulletin. i have not paid the bill and will not because this is a defective part and manufacturer has been aware of this even on 1995 models. i hope that you consider posting this entire message for other owners.  view

There was a recall for the head gasket failure for this size engine for cars built in atlanta, my car was built in chicago. why would it only apply to that plant?  view
