1994 BMW 740 User Comment / Complaint

On august 5th i purchased this vehicle, on 8/8/2000 i took it to bp gas station because the abs light was staying on, it cost me 180.30 at that time to fix the problem i thought, 3 days after that the abs light came back on, i took it back to bp and then was told the whole brake system needed to be replaced, i went back to valu mart did some complaining and since i only had the car a week they supposinly replaced the system but would not reimburse for what i had already spent, so far the abs light has not come back on. it is the check engine light that keeps coming on, it cost me 430.00 for valu mart to replace the cylnoids, although only the number one cylinoide was bad all three had to be replaced because all three are one part, this is two weeks after i bought the car. the check engine light still comes on, i took it back down to valu mart and was told that the memory had not been erased that is why the light kept coming on, so they reset the memory, but that did not work, so i took it back to them and they put it back on the machine to find out they had gotten a bad part so they replaced it, but the next day the light came back on i took it back to them now they are telling me they have to take it to the dealer because whatever is wrong with it they (valu mart) do have the proper equipement to detect the problem . here i have paid them 430.00 for something they haven't fixed and its hard telling what the dealer is going to charge and i haven't had the car more than a month yet and haven't put but 700 miles on it and most of that is from it being test driven after each vist to the garage, i know i bought the car used but i think these use car places should at least check these vechiles out a little better before selling them, when you pay 6000.00 for car you at least expect to beable to drive it some before having to start paying for having parts replaced. and come monday 8/18/2000 its hard telling what the dealer will find..  view

Valve cover gasket leak @24000 miles replaced by dealer. still leaking at 26000 miles replaced by dealer at approx. 30000 miles head was checked dealer stated head was good replaced head gasket and valve cover gasket dealer stated that any future problems with same components would be taken care of. expertienced intermittent check engine light dealer checked and stated every thing okay replaced oxygen sensor. still intermittent check engine light at approx 70395 coolant bubbling out of over flow replaced radiator cap vehicle now overheated test for carbon monoxide gas in coolant system shows positive indication bad head gasket or head dealer does not want to repair even though problem was never properly repaired  view

Truck has knocking in engines.  view

When the car is driven and you turn the heating system on your getting a musty smell. it happens on heating more than cooling.  view

Transmission/torque converter exhibits a mettalic droning noise at approximately 50mph. noise is only apparent when torque converter locks up.  view

The tire simply "blew up" for no apparent reason. the tire dealer could not explain it. the tire was totally destroyed. this tire was 16" not 15" but it still "blew up".( dot number: tire size: p235/75r16 )  view

Consumer was traveling about 35mph on pavement road when another vehicle started beeping. he pulled over and lady in the other vehicle told him that there were flames coming from underneath of vehicle. consumer called fire department that vehicle was burning to a crisp. vehicle was totaled. there were no injuries.  view

While driving about 70 mph heard a popping noise then a flapping noise on the right front tire. tire still had air, but tread was gone. firestone 721 725/75r15.  view
