Idle air speed control valve was replaced in 1995 & has to be replaced again. vehicle stalled in traffic, slowing up upon approaching a stop. consumer has to cover cost over $1,000. original owner. dealer said part was only good for 12 months.  view

Steering sensor is bad, causing the steering wheel to become loose and jerks very hard when making a turn. dealer contacted, evo sensor replaced at owner's cost.  view

Motorcycle transmission jumps in and out of 2nd gear, rendering the motorcycle unsafe. while operating the motorcycle, the transmission jumps in and out of gear, unloading the motorcycle's suspension, and causing the motorcycle to lose directional control and stability, whereby causing the motorcycle and rider to enter oncoming traffic and the unpaved run-off area of the roadway--endangering the life of the motorcycle rider and other motorists in the vicinity of the defective motorcycle. i have researched the problem of defective transmissions in the 1998 and 1999 yamaha yzf-r1. yamaha motor corporation is aware of the problem and they have responded to complaints of the clunky and unreliable transmission by repairing it free of charge under warranty. additionally, in response to the outpouring of complaints by consumers, yamaha motor corporation made extensive changes to the 2000 model year yzf-r1, noted by..."the transmission receive[ing] extensive attention, partially to lighten the system, partially to improve tranny performance(shifting and longevity)..." (roadracing world, february 2000, pp 15-16) and "there were some complaints with the previous r1 about the clunk between first and second gear, so yamaha made some improvements in that area - cleaning up the transition between the two cogs to make shifting smoother. there's also a new shift shaft, and additional bearing and different linkage in the shift mechanism." (cycle news, january 26, 2000, p.21) and "...yamaha also reworked the gearbox on the r1. what was a somewhat clunky transition from first to second gear has been cleaned up considerably..." (cycle news, january 26, 2000, p. 21). the transmission has been an item of safety concerns prior to my complaint. the national highway traffic safety admin office of defects investigation posted nhtsa campaign id# 98v236000 against the yamaha yzf r-1. "the primary driven gear backing plate(clutch basket) can break causing the engine components to lockup  view

On may 3, 2000 i took my plymouth voyager to roberson motors in salem, or because of a broker bolt attaching the strut to the rear hatch on the right rear of the vehicle, with subsequent damage to the headliner. upon inspection and appraising the damage, they found washers that were too small, causing the bolts to snap. i was told there should be a recall on it. upon checking they were surprised to find it was not listed as recalled. they suggested i call chrysler and inquire about reimbursement as it clearly fit the description of "recall 730". i understand that when the problem was identified, recall was made, and the problem was corrected at the factory, however it was obviously not corrected on this vehicle and still poses a problem on the left side. hoping we can have this problem taken care of by chrysler but not getting anywhere. thank you, patricia spence  view

I feel that this is a safety issue-if the welds break, which they have and chrysler has issued a tsb #23-04-96 which covers 4 yes 4 years they should pay for the repair - and repair all of these doors. what are they wating for - a door to fall off.  view

The problems we had with the windows, going down by itself and then not being able to get them up was reported to the dealer (tomkinson dodge) twice. the first time , they said they fixed it, but it wasn't. the second time , the window went down by itself , we couldn't get it up. reported to dealer (tomkin dodge), they told us to take door panel off and pull window up until they could get to it. the inside window cable was so badless twisted and tangled, it was about to broke. they worked on it, again saying it was fixed. window again went down (i don't remember the time span after being "fixed". so this time we took it to evans chrsler-plymouth-ddoge in kendallville to be fixed. they replaced all the window regulators, and have had no problems with the windows since. there was a object rattling around in the rear hatch when closing it that tomkin dodge could not seem to fix, but evans did. the vehicle also uses a lot of oil in between oil changes, we changethe oil every 2000 miles and would have to put 3 or 4 quarts in between changes. took it to evans for this problem on feb. 7, 2000, in which they replaced four gaskets; intake manifold pkg.,throttle body, thermostat, cleaned combustion chamber and also repaired the hood hinges. we will see if this takes care of the problem. i think for a $30,000.00 vechicle that it should hold up better than it has. there also seems to be a problem when driving on wet pavement. it sides around then stopping and taking off. have not had this checked out yet.  view

Failures occur during cold weather (-10 to 5 f). vehicle seems to operate normally until warm. initial episode occurred on jan 14, 2000. on that date the vehicle traveled 20 miles on an interstate normally using cruise control set to 65 mph. upon exiting the highway and braking the vehicle maintained 3000 rpm and independently accelerated to 30 mph (without apply gas). this occurred intermittent over the next few days; resolving after the vehicle was garaged over night. on jan 19, 2000, (after being garaged overnight) the vehicle traveled normally for 8 miles in town; but, independently and rapidly accelerated from 35 mph to greater than 70 mph upon accessing the interstate. the vehicle traveled 20 miles to the dealer without applying the gas and under constant braking to maintain 50 to 65 mph. the dealer service manager indicated that they fixed the problem by reprogramming an "electronic computer module." the vehicle performed normally until jan 21, 2000 when it exhibited the same independently acceleration described in the initial incident. the overall feel to these incidence is that the cruise control is on and stuck in an accelerate mode; but the cruise control is either off or turned off in all instances. the vehicle will be returned to the dealer on jan 24, 2000.  view

While driving semi-truck down the road, hinges on the bottom of the sleeper, broke. this caused the window to flap back & forth. the top hinges were fine. also, front end tires wore out excessively. tires changed 3 times during last 184,000 miles. in addition, power steering pump was defective. had a fluid flowing problem. volvo requested not to bring truck in.  view

When shifting gear into park transmission went into reverse. problem happened on a random basis. dealer says that nothing is wrong with the vehicle.  view

Gear was stuck in the second or third gear due to a loose hydraulic line which caused clutch fluid to leak, almost resulting in a crash. dealer had to tighten the part.  view

After repair of recall 99v094000 were done, transfer case problems became worse . dealer inspected the vehicle several times, transmission cross member support replaced and rear end bearings and carrier however vehicle still had rough shifting, unable to fix defect.  view

Upon impact, during frontal crash at approx. 25mph, driver's seat belt buckle unlatched when hit telephone pole, police checked buckle 4 times.  view

A malfunction in egr valve is causing vehicle to shut down immediately, resulting in loss of vehicle control.tsb was issued. dealer has removed and cleaned it in 1997, but defect has reoccurred.  view

Engine surges when vehicle stops. vehicle taken to dealer, but unable to find the problem. . the defect has reoccurred again in early sept. 2000, dlr has not been able to duplicate defect. the vehicle will surge foward far enough to hit vehicle in front.  view

Vehicle experiencing problem with vibration whenever brakes are applied. dealer notified, and turned front rotors. problem stopped and reoccurred again at 3000 miles. vehicle back at the dealer, and they are turning the rotors again. problem apperea again, and dealer replaced the rotors.  view

Bed of the truck, where the front wall meets the bottom, metal is ripping and breaking. this causes the whole bed to shift and collapse. consumer says at some point the whole thing can break. also, if other people aren't aware of the same problem, bed can collapse on them, causing a serious accident.  view

When trying to start vehicle after it has been running roughly, white smoke came out of engine. a technician had informed consumer that vehicle had a blown head gasket.  view

Wife drifted off road upon returning loss control, left front wheel folded, and rolled, tailgate popped open. 2 children 1 death and 1 broken femur etc.  view

Power steering kept going out. consumer has taken vehicle to dealer on 3 different occasions, and each time the same defect occurred. this affected consumer's ability to take full control of vehicle which could lead to an accident.  view

While driving down a hill and coming to stop applied brakes, but the brakes did not work, and vehicle crashed into a tree.  view

To avoid an accident consumer pressed on the brakes, and driver's side seat jerked out of position, and caused consumer to fall against steering wheel. consumer sustained fractured ribs and a concussion due to her head hitting against front glass. vehicle was only going 5 mph, and just entering an intersection from a red stop light when incident occurred.  view

Problem occurs after two or more hours of sustained freeway driving. car jerks, slows slightly with engine racing and little or no power at gas pedal. after 2-3 seconds, engine "shifts back in gear" stops racing, and power is restored to gas pedal. repeats this cycle seven to ten times in space of ten minutes. if gas pedal is pressed to floor and burst of fuel sent through system, the problem does not reccur for the remainder of trip (up to six hours). on the next long drive, it will happen again. i do not want to be driving when the transmission gives out entirely (see article consumer reports oct '99, pp20-23). please help.  view

All 1991 and later full size chevy trucks have "knock outs" that prevent front end alignment by the owner of the vehicle. many trucks are brought back to the dealer with worn tires and the owners are unable to correct the alignment. a service bulletin has been issued describing how to correct the problem. chevrolet should recall and remove all knock outs free of charge.  view

After getting my mountaineer back from accident related repairs i noticed that while backing &/or turning there was a popping sound from the front of the vehicle. one of the control arms was replaced due to the accident, the other one was replaced in 9/1999 & the vehicle is making the popping sound again.  view
