Purchase car new the sentinel light doesn't work .  view

Since this car was purchased new on november 1998 (1999 pontiac grand am) it has been in the repair shop for the following reasons: transmission was rebuilt, front end has been repaired 3 times, brakes repaired (warped rotors), air bag cover warped and was replaced, door paneling came off and was replaced with new paneling, glove box door was loose.  view

While driving windshield wiper motor malfunctioned, causing visual difficulty which may result in a crash. dealer had to replace the windshield motor and pivot arms. please provide further information.  view

At approximately every 2,000 miles brake rotors are prematurely wearing out, causing vehicle to shake. please give any further details.  view

Consumer contacted dealer in reference to nhtsa recall 94v169000/ manufacturer's recall 94s91 concerning emergency parking brake: mechanical. parking brake fails so that it will not engage. dealer puts "wedge" in mechanism to correct the problem, but the wedge does not last-- it breaks and falls out. mazda claims that there is nothing else that they can do to fix the problem since this is what nhtsa has instructed them to do. .et.  view

Upon attempting to make a normal stop consumer noted that vehicle became difficult to stop, causing some extended stopping distance. also when vehicle is at a stand still , it will not accelerate. consumer has contacted dealer. dealer noted that 1st. the calipers. then , master cylinder failed/not releasing, causing brakes to grab. .et.  view

Parked at a drive in pharmacy, put vehicle in reverse, and it lurched backward, hitting vehicle behind the consumer. turned vehicle off and then restarted. contacted dealer . dealer found a vacuum leak on the upper intake near the throttle. they repaired vacuum leak.  view

Consumer driving on the highway. and another vehicle merged into his lane. consumer's vehicle didn't see other vehicle, and forced him to hit another vehicle. vehicle veered off on the shoulder, and driver's airbag didn't deploy.  view

The transmission fluid in my car is no longer red but a muddy color. the clutch plates are chuddering when the car shifts into over drive and lock up,once the car shifts the transmission is in and out all the time.  view

Toxic substance via ventilation ducts causing drowsiness and numerous other potentially fatal health related symptoms. a/c system independently switches from fresh air to recirculated air which may contribute to the problem.  view

I brought my vehicle in because it stalled several times for no reason. i was told there was nothing wrong with it. the day i picked it up it stalled again. aproximately one month after the original visit i discovered that the catylytic converter was not functioning but was told this probably did not cause the stalling.  view

Recall # 99v214000 front suspension; dealer refused to honor recall because of welding, and the time frame that manufacturer has allocated for campaign. owner was told to take truck to another dealership. vehicle was taken to another dealer where recall was performed without problem.  view

When filling the gas tank up with fuel consumer noticed a fuel leak at seams of the tanks. consumer has contacted dealer, dealer stated both tanks needed to be replaced.  view

While driving at speeds of 25 mph and up the rear end of vehicle will bounce from side to side, very unstable, potentiallycausing loss of vehicle control. dealer cannot fix and determine cause of defect.  view

Whenever heater is turned on vehicle would fail to heat up. problem is listed on recall(#91v004000), but not for this vehicle. contacted dealer & mechanic ordered parts. mechanic informed owner/manufacturer a month later than recall notice.  view

The crack is located in the sheet metal right next to the door locks. i am going to my ford dealer tomorrow to have this looked at. i can only hope that he fixes this defect. this truck cost a lot of money.  view

Cup holders will hold nothing. an attempt to put a car designed cup holder of hot coffee could result in severe injuries. there is nothing that will fit in the drink holder---not a can, not a cup, not a bottle!!  view

This police department purchased seven 1998 ford crown victorias. the hub caps on this year model are constantly coming off the vehicle at various low speeds. so far this department has replaced 10 hub caps from it's fleet of 1998 cars. we are not the only pd that has experienced this problem. numerous agencies across the country have had the same problem. theses hub caps have dislodged themself from the rim during low speeds. we have one incident were the cap struck a parked motor vehicle.ha  view

I have had the car in 3 seperate times for the front brakes. they continue to grind and the car pulls to the right or left. i have noticed a decrease in brake performance.  view

I know of four other people with the same complaint of their vehicle radiator core being plugged. they were all serviced at shottenkirk's and upset about having to pay a cost of $294.09. i had previously had the same vehicle to shottenkirk's because of no heat and they put in a new thermostat. that did not solve the problem, and i had to pay $64.00 for the thermostat and labor. besides taking two days off ,driving sixty miles one way to shottenkirk's and having to pay for the services because the extended warranty would not cover the cost, i am a little upset with chevrolet. i went thru the proper channels to give my complaints and this is where joel, from the executive office at general motors instucted me to complain. it is not fair to the consumer to have to pay for a faulty core.  view

Century model#4665bol, dom o1-09-1997; put child in the car seat on the way to the daycare and was not able to unlock the carrier. had to take the baby's shoes off in order to slide him out.  view

This vehicle was in the shop about 8 times for electrical problems, with 5 times being documented. problems started about 4 months after i took delivery of it. nearly all the light switches were changed along with the electronic eye for the lights.  view

Engine head gaskets were damaged and needed to be replaced. the recall notice given was for fords after 1994, mine is a (3.8l engine)taurus. i believe it to be the exact same problem as the 1994 models.  view

I had my brakes inspected when i could hear a scraping sound and was told that the fronts were considerably worn and needed to be replaced but that the rear calipers did not close properly causing excess wear on the front brakes. i recently had the front brakes restored, but did not have the rear ones done due to excessively high cost ($550.00 estimate)  view

Machanic touched idle wheel and it fell into engine.the machanic called the chevy dealer and he was told the back side of the idle wheel was known to wrought out and fall into engine.if happens while driving engine blows and you lose power.could result in accident and injury exspecially at higher speeds.  view

I have spent alot of money trying to get this car in safe running condition, and as of right now my pontiac sits in my garage not driveable because i cant afford to spend any more money on these brakes , i have already spent more than i should have and it still does not work. if you people at pontiac pride yourself in excellence than i think you should take another look .if you really pride yourself in excellence, i think you should repair the whole brake system in my car. other wise i will be forced to contact the attorney general thankyou.  view

Torsion bar snapped with no warning. this is obviously a manufacturer defect, yet was not covered under extended warranty. i had to pay for towing and rental car while my truck was disabled. i think ford should cover this repair as the part was defective.  view

When it rainy or there is water on ground water get into or on the belt which cause the power steering to go out and loss control.  view

While driving on the highway then stopped at a stop sign. went to turn, and the rear of engine dropped onto the highway. contacted dealer, and was told that two rear bolts on engine cradle had rotted out. they made the necessary repairs. took the vehicle for a state inspection and was told that the engine cradle had rotted out, and craced across the frame. contacted dealer again, and was told not under warranty.  view

Head gasket failure on our neon and dealer admitted 40 failed head gaskets so far this year that he has replaced. now in for repair at the dealer and have now been told that head is also bad because of the leak. they want $1,400.00 for a head that was damaged by what seems to be a re-occuring problem with this model. your nhtsa service bulletin 09-05-98 indicates they did make a change in the type of head gasket. i regestered a complaint with crysler and the dealer has contacted crysler about our problem. the dealer indicated that crysler "might" help out and pay "some amount". of the head gasket bill. early on with this problem we took it to a mechanic who replaced the thermostat, and flushed out the cooling system, and removed the radiator and had it cleaned. none of these problems fixed the problem and we took it back again. this is when he found the leaky head gasket. he called out to the dealer to find out if they had seen the problem before and they told him it was a common problem and they had replaced 40 so far this year. now i have a $1,400.00 to $1,700.00 bill for a problem that crysler knows about or at least this local dealer has seen 40 times this year.  view

When stopping and accelerating you get a jerk and a thump like someone has hit you from behind. dealership states "after trying to fix the problem" for more then 4 times that this is due to the movement of fuel in the fuel tank and is a normal characteristic of this kind of vehicle in this model year. moreover they state that eyery vehicle in this model year has the same charecteristic. the manufacturer has backed the claim of the dealership that this is normal to get a jerk and thump when stopping and accelerating. please advise that if there is a problem with such violent movement of fuel in fuel tank and if it is a safety problem which could result in failure of part and possible fire or failure of any other part and if this is a normal characteristic of this vehicle as the dealership and manufacture states.  view

When the tempeture is below 35 degrees engine won't start. and dealer is unable to fix vehicle.  view

The drivers side shoulder harness has a recall on it through nhtsa. it has been replaced once, and has failed again. it was repaired at a ford authorized dealer with ford factory parts. currently, the shoulder harness is frozen and if the shoulder harness is worn at the position that the track is frozen, it hits me right at my throat and if i am involved in an accident, my throat would be cut. ford has been notified about the probem several times and informed me that they fixed it once and that was all tjhaey were required to do and that was there final position. i explained that nhtsa had told me that if the same problem had reoccurred with the same componet and that the componet involved safety, that ford was required under that recall order to fix it as long as the original replacement part was a ford factory part installed at a factory dealer. i also explained to ford that nhtsa had three recall notices on the shoulger harnesses with three different campaign numbers assigned to it but that the manufacturer onlt had two seperate recall numbers assigned to them. the first recall notice and the second one both have the same manufacture id nimber. help!  view

When jeep is stopped at side angle on hill, seatbelt is inoperative after getting back into vehicle. i had to drive down steep hill twice with no seatbelt on. simple momentary bypass button to center pendulum would allow fastening seatbelt when vehicle is at an angle.  view

Upon heavy acceleration the vehicle veers to the left and control is limited. i have reported this to the service department of my dealer, however, they say this is "normal." this condition is so severe that i feel it is a dangerous condition especially if the driver is not prepared for it.  view

The lamination in the windshield has detriorated causing the window to look distorted which results in poor visibility. however, the vehicle was taken to dealer & the problem was confirmed by the mechanic.  view

When coming to a stop, the engine would go into rapid acceleration and the rpms would go way up. the truck would continue to move forward even when apllying the brakes. the truck would only stop when the driver puts the truck in park and completely turn truck off. dealer could not determine the cause of the problem. the truck was a rental from enterprise.  view

Drove/parked truck in garage, went into house, neighbor noticed smoke/informed driver, truck engulfed in flames/garage also, fire dept. put flames out.  view

Track or piece of steel holding/securing the drivers seat to the floor of vehicle broke. there was no known reason for the breakage, i.e. stress, impact,etc..observable to me. repeated attempts to have the dealer address the problem failed, as did attempts at contacting a gmc rep. a funny thing....when i was looking to buy the vehicle i received more attention than i cared for, but once i made a rather low keyed complaint, i received no attention what-so-ever.  view

Speedometer increases to be off at higher speeds 5 mph at 55 and increases as speed goes higher.  view

Car was parked in driveway fourtyfive minutes after use. car starts on fire under the hood drivers front . the majority of the fire was contained tothe bumper area. very extreme heat there. the fire damaged wiring mainly on the driverside wheel well. also burnt many electrical devices, the poweresteering resivour , cruise control dighfram,windowwasher bottle. i have heard of many stories of simmilar fires on at least six or seven vehicles. ther must be a defect some where to cause a fire like that.  view
