1990 DAIHATSU CHARADE User Comment / Complaint

Engine head gasket failed, leaking antifreeze into oil, oil pressure dropped at idle at stop light. dealer said engine would need replacement, possible damage to main and rod bearings.  view

First problem was the battery short on 5-26-99, then on 6-15-99 air bag light came on, stating to service air bag. vehicle was taken to dealer and i was advised that there was no problem with airbag system. on 7-7-99, air bag light came on again. vehicle taken to dealer and again advised that nothing was wrong,l just a faulty light. they also stated that the air bag would never deloy unlesss there was an accident. on 7-29-00 while stopped at a red light. airbag service light came on, and air bagsdeloyed immediately on drivers side door. vehicle taken to dealer and left for 27 days. gmc stated this has never happened to another vehicle. as i can see they lied to me, it has happened. i have a lawsuit pending with them since 11-29-99 requesting they buy back my vehicle. nothing has been heard from since. on 11-1-99 fuel gauge sensor went out and had to be replaced. all these problems started with a battery short on 5-26-99 and the computer has a mind of its own. please note: the air bag has only deployed once. however, i had two previous warnings.  view

While traveling 40 mph and making a sudden stop as a result of an accident, hit a light pole, and air bag did not deploy. manufacturer has been notified. please provide further information.  view

While driving at approximately 40 mph ,started smelling gas and pulled over, within 1 minute vehicle was engulfed in flames which started underneath the hood, resulting in total loss of vehicle.  view

While driving at 57 mph both upper ball joints failed , rubbing against tire rim, and causing loss of control. dealer claimed both front ball joints were worn out and there was insufficient amount of grease.  view

Passenger door opened while doing a 360 degree spin. passenger was holding grab handle on pillar and drivers arm. door snapped forward and jammed into right fender. both hinges may be cracked. dealer`s response was for me to report to my insurance company that i had an accident. we struck nothing at all. dealer says they have no responsability to repair anything. we feel that a door latch assembly failed under normal use there was no impact with anything.  view

Anti-lock brakes still not working after recall procedure completed. i am sending a detailed letter along with this to explain further.  view

High amperage load is routed through the headlight switch, this circuitry is overloaded and overheats (short) resulting in loss of headlights,market lights and tail light circuits. mjs  view

Model (alpha omega-023312ac), left hand spring on the tray shield was loose, right hand spring on tray shield was missing. mjs  view

Brakes failed because of master cylinder leakage. yh  view
