1994 PLYMOUTH DUSTER User Comment / Complaint

There is a very high rate of failure of this component. replacement of the hydraulic unit is the only course of action offered by yamaha, & if not within warranty period, is a cost prohibitive $2000 approx. i repaired the hu myself by cleaning & polishing the existing parts. i would like to at least have access to replacement parts since this appears to be a chronic problem.  view

Started vehicle; felt like it was accelerating. noticed rpms were revving. applied brakes hard to stop. fuel throttle was open. accelerator pedal stuck.  view

Left and right front turn signals fail every few months. each time the bulb contacts as well as the bulb receptacle are severly scorched and plastic is melted. i am concerned about fire hazard.  view

While driving the vehicle, it lost power. we had to pull to the side of the road. to proceed we had to floor the car just to move. at the dealership in nc we waited and then the car worked perfectly. vehicle repaired in sc - idle air control replaced. two hours into driving the same thing happened. vehicle taken to larson ford - lakewood nj several times.replace thermostat reprogram pcm;replace fuel filter; replaced pfe and egr sensors; replaced engine temp sensor and pcm; a computer check was done prior to the replacement showed nothing wrong. in june 1999 a trip of four hours on the pa turnpike the vehicle did the same thing: loss of power the thermostat gauge moved to the right of the indicator (as before) . after waitin for about 15 minutes the vehicle worked okay for another hour. and then the same thing happened. on the way back from pittsburgh we stopped periodically with no problem. larson ford checked the vehicle and found nothing wrong although a computer check found several things wrong but they didnt know what to fix or "replace". when i called the manufactures customer service they told me that there was nothing that they could do and to bring it to a dealer. as far as i know the long distance problem with this vehicle still exists!!!  view

The transmission went out on our truck. it is only 5 years old, with 61,153 miles. the dealership has us contact their customer service, who in turn told us the vehicle was "too old & too many miles" for any help from them. we had a estimate from a private shop prior to taking the truck to the dealership. both places said we needed a new transmission. i don't feel like the truck is old enough or the mileage is high enough to justify the transmission going out. this truck was sold with a "work package" which included the towing kit. it has not been abused in any way. i feel like chevrolet is not standing behind their product. i hope that you are able to help us in some way.  view

We read in the paper that this problem had been reported to the nhsta. the wipers motor in this vehicle had to be replaced. the intermitent wiper does not work.  view

Abs brakes locked repeatedly. when problem reported to the dealer, they found nothing wrong. then, while trying to come to a sudden stop, the right brakes locked, pulled the vehicle right until it rolled over.  view

Ford motor co. has recalled many 3.8l v6 because of head gasket. when i called them they were only recalling fwd cars. i called three different dealers stevens ford, park city ford, and miller ford they all told me they would use the same kit ( bolts and gaskets) called out in the recall. i think that ford should stand behind there product and recall all 3.8l v6's with this problem. please let me know? thanks joe.  view
