Blind spots, rear visibility: audi's refusal to replace outside mirrors. the passenger's outside mirror an drivers poorly designed and have tremendous blind spots. driving a $70k with mirror assemblies that do not provide safe rear vision monitoring is outrageous and dangerous. poor rear vision results from excessively wide c pillars, rear seat head rests that do not have storage recesses or other provisions for preventing them from obscuring large areas of the rear window. the dealer has and audi have been less than helpful even when i pointed out that a 19991/2 a4 ($30,000) right ouside mirror has almost twice the visual field as my a8. audi's response to me has been terrible, and their suggested actions include my having to purchase and have installed approximately $1000 for right and left outside mirror. the latest a4's rear head rests recess into the top of the rear seats and provide almost no obscuration or rear vision. i requested assistance from audi at purchase time re: rear head rest pointing out my great dane was the only rear seat passenger, and my willingness to sign a release if the head rests were removed and able to be reinstalled easily. audi has totally ignored my request for safety critical replacements for mirrors, and audi has apparently terrorized the dealership because criswell audi is now refusing to even consider any aftermarket part installation on my audi a8 incuding a back up radar transciever that only needs a two wire hook up and senses objects within 12' of the rear bumper when backing up. finally each area of concern about that i have about my car, limits my car's utility esp rear vision concerns, and are severe enough safety concerns i have fewer than 6000 miles in 18 months of ownership. the 99.5 adn year 2000 audi's have address each of my areas of concern in their new vehicles mirror size, field of view, and rear head rests, however, i am still being stone walled re: safety issues that have plagued this car since i purchased it. *

I commute a long distance to work, when i can't fill up my gas tank and the engine light constantly comes on i don't feel safe. when it rains the car sometimes losing power and brakes. the tires and brakes have already been replaced. the following items have also been reolaced, seat belts, air conditioner, drivers side eletric window motor, the horn and more. whenever i take the car to the dealership i am told that the engine light coming on is no big deal and the brakes and tires were normal wear and tear (the car was maybe a year to a year and a half old) they also told me there is nothing they can do about the gas tank not filling up. i am extremely dissatisfied and would like to know what i can do legally about it. my car is going into the shop again for what i think may be the sensors (this has happened before) the only differance is that this will be the second time i have to pay out of my pocket, i have contacted lemon law, the dealership, ford, and the bank holding the lease. lemon law contacted the dealership and this was the only time i received service with a smile instead of an attitude. even though the problem is still not resolved. please let me know what i can do to have these problems resolved.( dot number: )

The gas tank will not fill completely. i have had the vehicle back to dealer at least 4 times regarding this problem, they took the tank off at least twice. when filling the gas tank it shuts off & i am able to continue to fill the tank at least putting in 5 to 6 gallons more. i am never sure if the tank is full or not. this has been an ongoing problem since i took this vehicle home from day 1.

We took this car to the dealer in may of 1999 because the throttle seemed to stick, then break free, causing to car to lurc forward into traffic. they kept the car but it would not repeat the problem so they erturned it to us and charged us over $100. ever since the throttle would sometimes feel rough in about one half to one inch of travel but then would be smooth as silk. in feb we took the car in for the smog check and the service person finished the test and put the car in reverse and it sat still, the engine at idle and it would not move. he shifted it back and forth then suddenly it shot out of the stall without warning. he said he had pushed on the foot pedal but nothing happened. then on march 14, 2000, i was traveling at a steady speed of 50 miles per hour for about five minutes when i decided to accelerate to 55, the throttle stuck tight. i pushed very hard but nothing happened for about 20 seconds, then suddenly it released and my speed increased. at this point we cannopt afford to pay ford $100 every time we take this in and they can't find anything. i'm sure it is a throttle problem. the smog mechanic thinks it may also have something to do with a switch on the transmission, as he said when it did it to him he moved the shift lever back and for and pushed on the foot pedal and it did not increase in speed nor did it move. is there some kind of recall having to do with either of these problems? the dealer doesn't seem to think so. thanks for your help. it has been and on going thing. when the problem occurs it is without warning. i have had a couple of scary occurrences. once at a stop sign i pulled up stopped saw that it was clear, press on the foot pedal and nothing happened, the car sat still at idle, no reving just idle. i thought my foot was caught on the carpet so i pushed again, still nothing so i thoght maybe the floor mat had gotten caught under the pedal, just as i was reaching down to pull on floor mat car shot forward. ak
