My lincoln continental caught fire under the hood. all indications are that this was caused by a defective air suspension contol module. i understand that there was a recall (nhtsa 85v04) to replace this part on 1985 linclon manufactured from 11/84 to 3/85. when i called ford motor company's customer assistance center, i was advised, on more than one ocassion, that my vehicle was not a part of any recall. however, i have since determined and ford's research group has confirmed that my vehicle was manufactured on 3/6/85. this indicates to me that ford motor company failed to recall my vehicle in error. the fire was a result of this error. my car is not driveable as a result of the fire. i am requesting that ford motor company rectify this situation by either fully repairing my vehicle or by reimbursing me the full retail market value that it will cost to replace the vehicle (along with any other expenses i have incurred as a result of the fire). the car is available for examination at my residence. please advise me as to how to proceed from this point to get a timely resolution to my problem. thanks, in advance for your timely reply.  view

The paint on the hood bubbles up in the heat. they are like air bubbles. these bubbles are able to be popped. the situation gets worse when the vehicle sits outside. i know it isn't a chemical or something that got onto the surface to cause this because the car is kept clean all the time. there is never a time when the car is dirty.  view

First time problem occured, brakes making groaning noise and also experienced brake fading. dealer replaced brake pads. repeat of problem at 13,500 miles; identical symptoms. lots of brake dust. brake system may be inadequate for the weight of vehicle, or brake pad material too soft.  view

The following letter has been sent to subaru of america.... this letter is sent on the behalf of the many owners that have experienced multiple failures of the 4eat automatic transmission in the subaru svx. it is evident that there is a design flaw in the transmission that causes the premature failures for all model years. these failures have occurred in cars with very low mileage and continued to occur thereafter. repair and/or replacment of the transmission is very expensive, costing approximately and, as of this date, there has been no support from subaru. understandably, the owners of these vehicles have become quite angry at subaru's lack of response or acknowledgement that a problem even exists, and have consulted legal counsel regarding a class action lawsuit. to avoid an unpleasant and hostile situation, and in an effort to maintain good relations with the owners of your cars, the following solutions are demanded: 1. subaru recalls and replaces the transmissions for all model years 2. extends the transmission warranty to 100,000 miles for all model years unless a written response is received within 30 days, litigation will be instituted. thank you for your anticipated courtesy and cooperation.  view

Rear power window on driver side sometimes doesn't work from the drivers seat.... center console/arm rest breaks and the coffee holder will not return to its stored/locked position...transmission shifts noisey and hard under light throttle, even after new transmission fluid has been installed....new oem[acura installed] battery goes dead after 1 month if car isn't started every week,,[acura says it is because of all the computers which must continue to run and draw current...recommed a trickle battery charger]...beat car i have ever owned, had gm's all rest of 45 years, and love the qualityof workmanship, and engineering the japanese build into the vehicle.  view

Ten + brake failures during the course of four years. complained to the dealer numerous times - everyone from sales to service denied they had received any complaints about abs brakes. have paid dealer twice to replace drums, pads, turn rotors, etc. when i explained what the brakes were doing. this is a major safety hazard.  view

The frame under the transmission started poping very early. repeated attemts were made by the dealer to solve the problem. finally an outside brake shop ided the problem and the dealer repaired at about 45000 miles problem soon returned and now disables the vechile  view
