Consumer went through a car wash. at the end when pressing the accelerator engine was slow and power gone, also, when starting to go through an intersection, power failed. washed car at home same thing happened , but less. went back to car wash and vehicle had to be pushed out. consumer waited for parts to dry. dealership said the drain hose got clogged, and the water got into the computer component and vehicle would not start for three days. dme was replaced, a bigger drain hose installed, and drilled a hole into the component so tha t access water could drain out. bmw sent a bulletin to dealership on this matter. there were a total of 20 car washes in the san franando and los angelas counties that received reports of similar problems with this make/model and year. view

The alternator at a stop cannot maintain power for more than aa couple of minutes and if you have an accessorie (i.e.) your heat or defogger or the headlights it will dim to the point that if you are at a long light it will stall the car and if it is dark it is hard for other cars to see you while stopped at a light it will stall out after a min. if you have a defogger on i don't believe that i should have to go to park when i stop at a light if i need the defogger on so i can see and the dealer just told me to put it in park at a long light and they have had two other complaints that they mentioned and tech support tells them there is nothing wrong with the chargeing system thank you for your time view

When i originally bought the dakota r/t, i was told that i could tow up to 6400lbs. just recently chrysler has announed that towing more than 2000lbs will void our warranty. the r/t is meant to be a fun truck to drive, but many of us also bought it for the ability to work as well as play. many of us also bought the heavy duty service group and the tow package from dodge as well. that all amounts to nothing now, since it can not tow more than what the bumber can handle. i belong to a mailing list of 300 other r/t drivers and so far all they have heard (after calling chrysler's customer service) is that chrylser may pay us back for the tow package and heavy duty service group. that is truly unacceptable since we bought this truck for working and now it can barely tow a good sized trailer. all the documentation that i have read says that the dakota r/t can tow 6400lbs. i would like to see if there is anything that you guys can do to help us out. thank you very much. tetsuo1329@aol.com view

Automatic transmission has not completely failed, car is still being driven due to fact that dealer is 90 miles away. problem is most noticeable when car is still cold. when vehicle is slowed for an intersection or stop sign, if you don't come to a complete stop, there is a very hard "thump" felt upon acceleration. has been getting noticeably worse with time. as far as the door handle is concerned, one day it just stopped working, the handle moves in and out, it just doesn't open the door. view
