Consumer may be drving at any given speed. when he begins to slow down or if he downshifts and turns, engine will shut down, causing loss of steering and braking control. bmw dealerships cannot find a cause.  view

The throttle control began to stick during cold weather, causing sudden acceleration and loss of control. the dealer has been contacted.  view

Both left front seat and right front seat belt bolt is missing where the female part is to be bolted to the seat pedistal.  view

The jack that came equipped with vehicle twisted when changing a tire, which caused the vehicle to fall down. could have resulted in injuries. replaced the jack. dealer said to call and make a complaint. returned to dealer, and requested replacement equipment .et.  view

Whenever the air conditioner is turned on, the head lamps would go dim. have taken to dealer & problem could not be found. it only happens when air conditioner is in use. taking vehicle to another dealer.  view

Difficulty shifting into park. sometimes goes into reverse. when shifting into reverse from park, it goes into neutral instead. good thing nothing was behind the van.  view

Fuel injection delivery system is leaking fuel from some of the sealing "o"-rings, and the hair line in the thermostat fuel injection rail.  view

While driving at 35 mph on a bridge the catalytic converter caught on fire, and the consumer had to pull over once she saw smoking coming from the vehicle. consumer poured baby milk on the small fire, and was able to put the fire out.  view

While driving, the vehicle stops running without warning and will not start back up for a period of time. has had numerous component replaced but none corrected the problem.  view

Lock cylinder failed causing driver to be shocked when key was inserted into ignition.  view

Handle locking mechanism failed to lock causing infant to tip over out of the seat when lifted;sustained no injuries.  view

Consumer has problem finding a safety seat, which child cannot unsecure the retainer clip and get out of the car seat.  view

Engine has failed 4 times after being fixed. enginecheck light still coming up.after taking vehicle to the dealer ,they said that it miht be the copmputer of the vehicle . the car has been a lemon, and i want to know what to do.i am willing to go the distance about this mater. i have talk to ford, and they have not done anything about it. i even send letter to the local newspaper.  view

A frame in process of being replaced again june 9, 1999 for the second time. major vibrations in front end of car. bezels replaced. cup holder replaced. bumper peeling - dealer will not fix. front of dash plastic had to be replaced-broke. console lid cover replaced. i would not recommend this car to any person. even the general motors technicians state this is the worst car for problems. it took almost six months to get the a/c switch replaced. it kept turning itself off and could not get back on. finally 06/05/99 it quit all together. they put in a relay switch. this car is a big disappointment for the people who remember the old malibus.  view

Brake pads are wearing out excessively. they're rubbing into the rotors. would make strange noises, like grinding metal, when the brakes are applied.  view

Owner has had 3 batteries replaced and 1 new alternator because of an electrical malfunction in the vehicle. dealer claims that something electrical stays on in the vehicle even when it cuts off.  view

Tires completey exploded and eventually replaced the rims, and since the third time i have not had any problems with the tires. i had to have a complete set of brakes put on, which i had to pay for. i am now having to face paying over $1000 for a new transmission, the headlights had problems not even a month after i got the car. the radiator had a whole in it from a screw that came loose from under the hood and it was shot back up into the radiator, they goodwilled this. We received a recall notice concerning transmission cooling unit and lines, and had it replaced by a buick dealer, but it seems to still be leaking. recall 96v-015.002.  view

Many problems since purchase, very disatisfied, car was not checked out prior to sale, car was missing basic fluids, car had lights out which i was ticketed for, car was running horrible needed brakes, also needed what was thought to be a tuneup but car continued to run horrible which looks to have turned out to be engine problems which led to replacement of engine.  view

Dealer has looked at the vehicle, and found no problems, however, it still doesn't work correctly. as well, the passenger front door panel came a part, the tail pipe rattles, the front right shock bushing failed, the panic alarm sometimes will not disenguage, there is a vibration at 55mph, the front left speaker has come loose and makes a rattle, the cruise control over/under accels/decels, and the headlights will sometimes stay on after you turn them off.  view

This part has a safety recall (nhtsa# 97v204 or ford recall # 97s83). however, it only includes vehicles manufactured after 1/3/92. since my vehicle was manufactured in october, 1991 (3 months earlier) it was not covered by the recall. i have already paid for the repair of leaking fluid, but i believe i should be reimbursed and the total fix should be installed at ford's expense to prevent additional failures and/or cause fires.  view

The driver side front torsion bar broke while driving, causing the front end to fall, and almost caused an accident. dealer stated there is a national back order on the torsion bar. please provide further information.  view

Automatic transmission malfunctioned, causing transmission to not go into gears properly, and going into neutral unexpectedly, which may cause an accident. dealer could not fix the problem with the transmission, and will only replace at the owner's cost.  view

This is in regard to the placement of the seat belts in the back seat of the cavalier. when used in conjuction with infant car seats. all the infant seat manufacturers have issued warnings against using any of their seats with cars where the seat belt is anchored forward at the crease, which is the case with the 96 cavelier. i was told to contact my vehicle manufacturer, who then told me to talk to the seat manufacturer, getting me no where at all. indeed the only advice i could get was to tighten it as much as i could and it would probably be alright. there are no probability nor should there be when we deal with the life of a child. i find it absolutely unacceptable that there is no way to safely transport my child due to the anchoring of the belt. i can't afford to go and buy a new car. it's bad enough that in the cavalier infant cannot be placed in the middle of the rear seat due to the hump. but on top of this, to place the seat belts so that no seat will work as they were meant to. there is no excuse for this.  view

The car was being moved from the front of my house into the driveway. the brakes would not engage to make the turn, instead vehicle accelerated. my son was driving and he turned the steering wheel to the left to try to slow it down. he then panicked and jumped out. the car proceded to continue crashing through our neighbor's chain link fence, continued through his yard. then crashed through the fence on the other side, ending up back in our yard and hitting another car parked in our yard, as well as a trampoline, and ended up hitting the corner of the garage which stopped it.  view

Factory fuel lines rubbed against the bottom of the truck cab, resulting in wearing through of fuel lines and massive loss of fuel near hot exhaust components. clearly a factory defect. lines were restrained in their original brackets in original positions along the frame of truck. you can see where the lines rubbed the underside of the truck as well as the failed line themselves. these were metal lines. truck was immediately taken to dealer. they say there are no recalls or service bulletins for this problem and have agreed to pay for parts but i must pay for labor. truck is out of warranty, and i will be out of pocket over $130 dollars. i feel this really is a factory problem, a serious safety issue and they should not only take care of the full cost of repair, but should inspect other similar vehicles as well.. truck is currently at carlin dodge in colorado springs, co. service advisor kirk crist, claim check number 989. phone # is (719)475-8550. it is an extended cab model used primarily for highway commuting (hence the hi mileage for the year). this particular dealer was very helpful as they were the 2nd one i went to. the first one, perkins dodge in colo. spgs, wouldn't even see us at the time of the failure, even though the truck was pouring fuel out of it. truck was purchased (leased) under the name rebecca kessler (my wife) from castle dodge in castle rock, colorado. i can give you the vin at a later time as i do not have it with me. thank you for your help, i hope to help others avoid a particularly dangerous problem. as a quick side note, i did see another complaint that i though might be the same problem, odi#836892, thank you. ryan and becky kercher  view

Been having intermittent electrcal problems,then the steering column started smoking with a burning wires smelling.  view

Had it fixed once by a certified mechanic at noblitt auto in dothan and he said almost every nissan v-6 has that problem with the bolts breaking that go into the manifold causing the car to lose pressure.  view

The hazard flasher is part of a multi-function turn signal/high-low beam switch. the plastic portion of the switch deteriorated allowing the switch to fail, making the turn signals/hazards inoperational. almost all merkur xr4ti's that i have seen have suffered this failure.  view

Oem tire design and size creates dangerous handling performance on snow covered/icey roads. vehicle performance suffers dramactically due to tire design and size given vehicle's weight. lack of contact traction severly effects braking and steering control even at much less than reasonably safe speed. question manufacturer's choice of tire design and size selection as a safety concern in winter driving conditions especially when vehicle is promoted as a 4-wheel drive suv capable of performing "better than average" in adverse weather. this is not only misleading; it is a dangerous real-world combination of poorly engineered performance.( dot number: tire size: p235/60-16 )  view

Without any indication or service issues, transmission failure occured. i drove the truck to work, and after parking, the ability to go in reverse failed. i was told by the closest gm dealer that the transmission had failed, and it is not covered under warranty.  view

The drive belt appears to be defective. if this is the case, the power steering could go out. occasionally, the power steering has locked up on me. the windshield wipers turn on whenever they want to. several friends said they have the same problem with the plymouth truck, voyagers or with the dodge truck, caravans.  view

Evenflo model # 4921a5ps; when putting the child into the child safety seat and locking the seat, the red button and the handle are not properely installed.  view

Evenflo model # 207171p1; when using the child safety seat the lock/handle broke, causing the consumer not to be able to put the child in child safety seat. consumer contacted evenflo, and was told to return it to the place of purchase, but it has since closed. evenflo says there is nothing they can do.  view

While driving about 25 mph and switching gears the transmission makes a grinding noise. dealer told consumer that they know about the problem with the vehicle.  view

While driving vehicle during day time or when sun is out, the sun's rays light reflect through dashboard, cutting driver's vision in two. dealer was contacted and a dash board cover was made but didn't help. chrysler says that there is nothing that can be done.  view
