Vehicle has been to dealer 5 times for same problem. transmission hard to shift when cold. grinds between 1st and 2nd gear. difficult or unable to engage 1st gear sometimes. transmission makes rattling noise when in neutral. dealer replaced transmission of first trip. reduced rattle sound but increased shifting difficulty. dealer replaced syncronizers and hub assembly on second trip. grinding improved but shift diffculty still present. have to start car in second or third gear sometimes. cannot engage first gear. third and fourth trip dealer found no noticable problem. vehicle lost 5th gear approxamently 3 weeks after last visit to dealer for same problem. vehicle was traveling approxamently 65 miles per hour when 5th gear disengaged and grinding noises immediately came from engine compartment. vehicle rapidly slowed down and emergency lane change accross dense traffic was required. 3rd and 4th gears were still usable without problems or noise and vehicle was able to be limped to dealer. vehicle is currently at dealer having problem inspected. view

The problem lies with the hydraullic rods that hold up the hood for any kind of maintenance. i was told by a dealer these often fail under cold conditions, but when weather warms, the rods will work again. this failure is totally unexpected. the rods show no leak and appear to be without problems. as i raised the hood on my maxima, never having experienced this problem before, i reached in to begin my interior inspection when the hood dropped striking my head, but allowing me to remove my hands before the hood slammed down. if it had not struck my head and forced me back, i would have broken or severed several fingers. this is a safety issue. the nissan company has opened a file on my complaint. the file number is 2766755. the car is only 31/2 years old. i have never experienced this type of failure in my others cars. nissan agreed to compensate for 1/2 of the replacement cost, but i believe this is a material defect that has safety implications so that it why i am reporting this. view

(it was kind of funny when it was the passenger side first, not so funny when the driver's seat started to do it.) on 12/31/98, i paid over $300 to have both seats repaired. i told the saturn dealer that this seemed highly unusual and due to a faulty part. i was assured it was normal "wear and tear." now the same year (1994) saturns have been recalled, but my dealer said my car is not within the "vin range." i think it is highly unlikely that this is a coincidence or due to normal wear and tear. i feel i am due a complete refund on the amount paid for the repair. view

I would be driving the van down the road at a speed of 30-40mph and the engine would go dead without warning. the dealer ran the computer codes and found nothing, but the problem was still there. after three fuel pumps, ....ect, the only thing that was not replaced was the onboard computer. i got a second hand computer for the van and went to install it. when i unplugged the old computer i found the problem, the heat of the engine compartment and age cause d the plastic coating on the wiring harness to shrink. when the van hit a bump in the road the computer would short out, leaving no codes and a dead engine. i emailed ford, they left no commeton this. thank you. view

Whenever the steering wheelis turned it makes a loud screeching grinding noise, and it has gotten progressively worst with time.a ford dealer told me the upper steering rod arms were bad . this is unbelieveable as the car only had i3000 miles on it ,the dealer further stated that he couldnt grease the part because it was a sealed unit and came from the manufacturer greased .well my contention is that if this part comes from the manufacturer greased and sealed the one i got is a faulty product because upper steering rod arms should never go bad after only 13000 miles of operation of the vehicle. i tried to get someone at ford motor company to talk with me about this problem, but all i got was a run around from the dealer to the ford motor company .no one would address the problem.i would like to add here that there is a safety problem here with severe possibility of an accident occurring because the steering mal functions because of the upper steering rod arms. view

My engine check light keeps going on. we have changed the pfe sensor, installed new egr sensor, and installed a new egr selenoid, along with changing the second sensor. still the "check engine" light goes on. i know when the light goes on because i can feel in when i excelerate. now i will be bring it to the mechanic for the 5 time next week. this egr has something to do with the air pollution, and it also effects my gas mileage. thank you for your time. view

While accelerating away from a stop, at low engine rpm and low throttle opening, the car hesitates. if you give it more throttle, it gives a sudden but unpredictable burst of acceleration. it is very difficult to get out of the way if someone happens to be headed toward you. it is also impossible to know when the car will start to accerlerate normally. it is a jerky type of action that does not coincide with the smooth application of the accelerator pedal. view
