1989 BMW 535 User Comment / Complaint

Knocking and jump-shifting transmission during acceleration; knocking transmission during cruising after acceleration; roughing/scratching braking when applying brakes, pads/drums/discs are in the excellent condition. speedmeter needle jumped to 85 mph while driving 55 mph once. sturcture failure in the trunk, up/right corner had a crack which let rain water leaks in the trunk. my air condition gives mildrew/musky when use. my car was never in accident.  view

Fuel line leaks fuel onto the engine block, beneath the intake plenum. when engine is running, visible drips occur (about 1 drop per 1 or 2 seconds).  view

The transmission in question is made by getrag. the manufacture listes this as unserviceable. the amount of problems associated with this trany are incredable. what can we do as consumers to protect ourselves from a faulty manufactured part?  view

While driving the vehicle at 57 mph the cruise control would not disengage when driver turned off the switch or hitting the brake pedal with both feet. driver turned the ignition off to stop the vehicle. the cruise control module was replaced when taken to dealership.  view

Century model # 4765fox, dom 5/14/97; when taking the child out of the car seat, the spring in the arm of the shield popped out on the right side of the child seat. century will be contacted.  view

While driving applied brakes and brakes pedal went to the floor, found fluid on the left wheel, and brake pedal had rotted out. dealer contacted and referred to manufacturer, not aware of the problem. warranty had expired and was no longer covered.  view

Had locked carrying handle in position. started carrying child seat by handle when it became unlatched & child seat flipped over.  view

Abs: brake pedal very hard. not stopping vehicle. pedal at times goes to floor. took to dealer. not able to find brake problem, or unable to duplicate.  view
