According to my independent chrysler mechanic,the steering gear box disintegrated and became completely detached from the steering gear. the front wheels did not respond to the steering wheel; the car had no steering control.

When going over a bump there is a clunking noise. also, the steering box moves back and forth. vehicle has been inspected by an independent mechanic. please provide additional information.
