I own a 2000 bmw 323ci with just over 80k on it and my rear subframe mounts have ripped through the bottom of the car and the whole rear of the car is about to fall off. after some searching i found around 200 fellow 3 series owners who are in the same boat almost all of which are 99 and 2000 models. bmwna insist this is not a defect but do to aggressive driving or suspenion modes none of which apply to me or the many others who are having the same problem. its not just about the estimated 3 to 7 thousand dollar repair bill it needs to be addressed mainly for the people on the road endangering themselves and everyone else and the don't even have a clue because the only symptom is s slight rattle one which the average driver wouldn't even notice.  view

Tl contact owns a 2005 jeep grand cherokee. while driving 75 mph, the power steering and power brakes lost power for approximately thirty seconds. all of the warning indicator lights illuminated. the contact pulled over and turned off the engine. the vehicle failed to restart and was towed. currently, the vehicle still fails to restart and the dealer is unable to determine the cause of failure. the current and failure mileages were 55,000.  view

Vehicle stalled at very busy intersection and would not start. had to be pushed to the side of road through traffic and towed to dealership. fuel pump was found to have failed and needed to be replaced at a total cost of over $900.00 with cost of rental vehicle.  view

Tl contact owns a 1997 kawasaki vulcan classic. while driving approximately 65 mph, the contact heard a rattling noise. the local mechanic diagnosed the aftermarket part, a forward control component, as the cause of the transmission failure. the transmission was replaced. the purchase date and a valid vin were unavailable. the current and failure mileages were 12,000.  view

I drive a 2002 chevrolet suburban. frequently, while i was driving and with no warning the vehicle just shuts off. when the vehicle shut off, it did not have power brakes or power steering. after stopping and turning the key off for a couple of minutes i could start up the vehicle and continue driving. this situation first started last fall. i took the vehicle to a local garage which could find any problem. the vehicle continued to experience these unpredictable shut offs ,and i took vehicle to the chevrolet dealer for diagnosis and repair. the dealer could not duplicate the problem. the truck continued to shut off on the highway and in the city at highway and city speeds, while slowing down and while accelerating. this was a dangerous situation as it hds shut off while towing a trailer. the shut offs did not correlate with weather, time of day, useage, temperature, or speed. losetpower steering and brakes which impacted the ability to control the vehicle.  view

Vehicle accelerated rapidly and would not stop, even after repeated attemps to brak creating an extremely dangerous situation while driving on interstate. i eventually was able to put the car into neutral, and the engine raced violently, and turn off the ignition. after calling lexus roadside assistance, while waiting for the assistance to arrive, i noticed that the accelerator pedal had been wedged in the rubber floor mat. i have not yet determined if the incident damaged the engine or brakes.  view

Air bag light came on at 33,000. diagnosis: a bad sensor for driver's side bag. extended warranty does not cover. they wanted $700 to fix it. turns out there is a reset method that will turn off the light if it is not defective, and only needs to be reset. the dealer did not try this, or offer to do so.  view

I had unwanted abs activity. abs would come on when coming to a stop at low speeds. nhtsa did recall #05v379000. work was done by dealer but problem persisted. the cost to repair was over $1,000. i pulled abs fuse.  view

2004 chevrolet trailblazer 2 wheel drive (2wd) transmission failure. transmission failed while under normal highway operating conditions, speed approximately 55 mph, two lane highway, surface conditions dry, mileage 25605. failure proceeded by strange noise, then complete disengagement / loss of power. service engine check light illuminated; later diagnosed by gmc dealorship as an open / loose gas cap as th e cause. the vehicle was manuevered / coasted without powertrain assistance to parking lot adjacent to the highway without injury / incident. vehicle towed to dealorshi on . 6/15/07) informed by gm representative that component replacement / repair needed, specifics unknown, cost $2400 of which gm would pay 50%; my cost $1200.  view

Tl contact owns a dometic rm2652. the dometic is installed in a 2001 okanagan classic. the refrigerator stopped operating and the dealer stated that it was included in recall # 06e076000 (equipment:recreational vehicle). there is an installation fee of $200. the part number was unavailable.  view

I purchased car in 2003 and within 6 months certain areas on the car the paint began to diminish. taken to mitsubishi for effected areas and they painted car on two different occasions, (the effected areas at that time) but when the rest of the car continued to diminish mitsubishi refused to paint affected areas because car was out of warranty. i have seen several mitsubishi's with the same problem, and i can't figure out why mitsubishi doesn't paint the entire car at the first sign of this problem. the entire car is painted with this clear coat, so the entire car will eventually have this problem. however, mitsubishi doesn't paint the entire vehicle all at once so that their customers will only go to the dealer the first time it happens, and will just pay out of their pockets when it happens again! this saves the greedy company money!  view

I was driving on the interstate doing about 65 mph both times this occurred when the rear brakes locked and the car came to a stop on the highway. smoke was pouring out from my left rear tire, and when the tow truck driver showed up it took him a good 15 minutes to get the brakes unstuck.  view

Took the motor home for repair of the frame due to the floor sagging on 11/2006. at the time they welded the frame to support the floor. then , there was a rear axle noise ,and i took it in to get repaired under warranty on 6/2007. they informed at me that time that the frame had been extended. they told me to contact the rv dealer to have them check it. on 7/5/2007 i received a phone call from themford dealers service manager saying that he received a bill from ford motor company for the axle repair, also, telling me that they were not responsible due to the alteration of the frame. they told me the repairs cost over $4,000.00. i called ford motor company, and they told me when they sold the frame to rv manufacturers. they were informed that any modifications done to the frames or chassis voided the warranty. i was aware because of the statement that ford motor company told me that i no longer had a warranty on this coach. i have contacted the dealer and ford motor company not fleetwood at this time, and i was waiting for a reply. so here i am, help! help, any help you could give me wouild be greatly appreciated.  view

Tl contact owns a 2002 buick rendezvous. while backing out of the driveway at 22 mph, the contact's vehicle was struck on the passenger side by another vehicle. the rear seat became unhinged at the time of impact. the contact and another passenger were injured. the vehicle was taken to a body shop and the mechanic could not diagnose the cause of the seat failure. the vehicle is unable to be driven. the vin was unknown. the current and failure mileages were 60,331.  view

Rear sub-frame mounts failed causing the engine to fall down a tlow speed prior to recall, recall repairs refused due to make/model/year (93v-106.002).  view

2006 express 3500 chevy van with slight knock in the front end when making turns customer wants the matter looked into* the consumer wants the repair to the idler arm repaired, however he was told that it was not a safety issue and no repairs would be authorized.  view

2005 nissan frontier with engineering defects customer states that the universal joint is subject to fail due to rust. * the consumer stated the manufacturer must have recognized the problem, because they have since added grease fittings. the consumer also stated the metal part that protrudes from the tailgate to the body of the truck was not designed for the weight of the tailgate. due to insufficient welding, the original inner half of the tailgate hinge can possibly break. the consumer was able to stop the tailgate from falling.  view

Car was making clunking noise in the steering wheel/tire area when making turns. dealer replaced intermediate steering shaft. this was the third time involving a steering issue. replaced steering gear assembly and rack & pinion.  view

I purchased a 2001 saturn l200 with approximately 37- or 29k miles from a saturn dealer in july of 2004. there are about 80,500 miles on the car now. two days ago i went out to start the car and the timing chain "failed" and beat up the engine (per the saturn dealer, where i had the car towed that morning). although i never used saturn for oil changes, i did change the oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. recently, however (several months ago) after having the car in to replace the ignition and housing, saturn gave me a complete inspection. there were several minor items listed needing attention, but the timing chain issue was never mentioned, nor did i ever receive notice of this inherent and dangerous defect (funny how they can find me to send notices of their upcoming sales "events", however). since it was late friday when i contacted the zone rep, i was told i should receive a return call from saturn by monday noon. i will be more than happy to update this if you like.  view

Differentials front and rear are under engineered and break extremely easily. transfer case also wouldn't shift into 4 wheel drive.  view

I just got off the expressway and was making a slow turn into a parking lot when the inner tie rod broke. i did not run over anything or hit anything, and the dealer found no evidence of such. the tie rod broke while going less than 5 mph , and i lost control of the left front wheel. i had to have the car towed, rent a car, and did not pick up the car until the monday night after the incident. i live 3 hours away from where this occurred, and had to leave the truck. the dealer was very surprised and had never seen this before. it was such an unusual incident that no dealers had the part and it had to be special ordered. honda agreed to pay for the part only after i called to complain but i still had to pay $467 in labor as well as for the rental and tow. i called honda directly to see if they wanted the parts to inspect ( i have it in my possession) and investigate but they want me to pay for shipping it back to them or deliver it to a local dealer. the main reason i called their headquarters in the first place was to make them aware of a possible safety issue. i do not feel i should make the effort or expense to send it back to them for them to see if there is a defect, which in my opinion there is. my truck had 48353 miles at the time. the repairing dealer gave me the part after i asked for it. if this would have happened a few minutes earlier i would have been driving 55 mph and probably would have lost control of the vehicle.  view

Cracked dashboard: all of a sudden my dashboard started to crack for no reason. cracking pieces were falling under the dashboard, possibility of slicing wires. exposed wires werr now exposed to the sunlight. could cause melting of the wires. dodge won't replace the item even though it is an obvious defect across all of dodge's trucks.  view

2003 chevy cavalier fuel pump failed. found out that there were several people with this problem and that there is an investigation going on either by you or the national transportation safety board. would like to file a complaint to be looked into by someone other than the chevy company.  view

The 4 rsa goodyear tires cracked with 14,000 miles on it. goodyear has produced bad tires and someone will get killed soon when these tires blow on the highway.  view

I have filed a safety complaint with chevrolet on the 2002 malibu i purchased new. i have had to replace the brakes twice once at 33,378 miles on 5/5/2005 and again at 51,543 mile on 3/27/2007. the consumer complaint department and the dealership where it was repair have informed me the replacing the brakes at 18,165 miles are considered ?routine maintenance.? failure of the braking system was found when the car did not adequacy stop placing me and my family in danger. there was no audible or visual indicator of the braking problem, instead i had to rely on performance failure while on the road. to date the manufacturer and dealership fail to recognize the problem.  view

Car leased brand new in august 2004. as of today on une 28,2007 car had brakes repaired 4 times at the dealer. rotors have been machined each time, and today brake pads replaced..car has 27,180 miles on it, and it has been maintained,garaged, kept, and no one has been rough on the brakes. the last time we had the car to dealer for brake problems was july of last year. at that time we were told that a brake line was crimped and only found it because we were having tires rotated. also, told that this was the last time rotors could be machined. well today they machined them once again as i had said previously for the fourth time. i did some research ,and i may be wrong but there was a recall on the car for abs problems in april 2004 prior to our purchase of the car.. i called gm , and was told that our car was involved, but was later told by owner of dealership that there had been a communication error and our car was involved in another recall concerning seat belts or something along those lines. i am very concerned about the safety of the brakes at this point after so many conflicting stories..i feel very frustated, and had to spend almost $500.00 because the brake pads were not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty as they had nothing to do with the previous rotor/brakeline problems or so i was told..we had computor sensor problems,short sockets on both real turn signals, loose tie rod, ignition problems ,which they could not detect..faulty gas cap etc.  view

Tl contact owns a 1999 dodge intrepid. while driving 25mph, the engine shut off. the dealer diagnosed the failure and changed the oil pan, gasket, belt, alternator and filter. on may 3, 2007, the engine shut off again. two sensors were replaced and the cost of the repairs were $1900.00. on may 4, 2007, the engine shut off. the vehicle was towed and the dealer stated that the engine needed to be replaced. the dealer also stated that the cost was $7000.00 and the water pump caused the engine to fail. the failure and current mileage were 96,800. the dealer stated the vehicle needed rear shocks and the shocks were repaired at time of service. the consumer provided the repair invoice for vehicle. the ater pump failed which caused damage to the engine. updated 06/13/07  view

I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500, and my dash is falling in. my dash started cracking several months ago and has recently started falling to pieces which are being lost inside the dash. when i googled a replacement dash i found countless others who are having the exact same problem. local 6 news out of florida did a story on this problem and even has a report of the falling debris cutting into the wiring causing the headlights to turn off while driving at night. i have not contacted dodge directly. i did go to the dealership and all they offered was to sell me a new dash at appx. $500. when i googled this problem, several of the people who had complained to dodge were given the same form letter telling them in short that this was not a common problem resulting in a recall and that there was nothing that they could do. i am only one of several people across the country who are looking for dodge to correct a problem they have given us that is not only cosmetic. i find it hard to believe this is being overlooked and viewed as cosmetic. there is a safety issue of broken pieces of dash board falling in and cutting wires, exposed jagged edges of plastic, brittle plastic parts flying around in the cab of the truck during the event of an accident, and also pieces being propelled at the driver and all passengers in the event of an air bag deployment. we are looking for dodge to rectify this problem and admit that there is an issue with them purchasing sub-par materials.  view

While driving pickup truck on interstate i experienced a sudden "bouncing" from the rear end that felt like a flat tire. i stopped and all tires were visually examined no flats. i started to drive down the interstate and the "bouncing" started immediately. i stopped and checked all the lug nuts, all were tight. being within 5 miles of home i decided to drive slowly home with 4-way flasher on. within a few yards while traveling at about 35mph the left rear tire experienced tread separation bending the truck's sheet metal around the left rear quarter panel area. the tire was still full of air when i put on the spare.  view

The 2002 winnwbag brave model 34d experienced a failure of the front attachment bracket to the liquid propane tank. the approximately 1/4 thick by 10"high bracket cracked completely and left the tank suspended by only two bolts at the rear that appeared to have been intended to stabilize the tank ,but not support the weight as they were attached to only two small tabs. this problem was discovered during maintenance to replace two of the failed stabilizer hydraulic jacks. if it had not been for this work being done i was certain one of the remaining supports would have broken while traveling and we would have been driving down the road with a pressurized tank dragging on the pavement. the thought of having this happen and the danger to all around was frightening. a call to winnebago factory service, which had a response of this was not anything we were aware off, haven't heard of it before. i stated i could email photos for their use, but they were not interested. this was a very serious problem, and owners of these motor homes should be advised to have this checked and repaired immediately.  view

Well, i' had some serious problems with the 1995 vw jetta iii. first, i had to put 2 new struts plus a whole new exhaust system. next, the instrument cluster failed to work. it was taxing on the entire transmission, and it costs over $450 usd to repair. on my way home from a 2 1/2 hour tri the car stalled for no apparent reason. i had to push the car off the road, and when i checked the oil i was shocked to discover i barely had half a quart in it , after having an oil change less than 1200 miles ago. i got the car home, and they told me that i had a blown head gasket that cost me $900 usd. i got the car fixed, and it was running fine for a while, and then all of a sudden it started stalling at random moments. one time, i was on a nasty mountain road, with no place to stop, i almost hit a rock wall, i was barely able to control the vehicle. i had it towed to my mechanic, and they were unable to fined the cause of the problem. it took them 3 times to find out that it was a clogged fuel pump. i also have a dummy air bag light that no one can figure out, and no matter how many times i asked my mechanic could not figure out why the battery light kept coming on. another problem was the windshield cowl that protected the car and engine from debris. it was completely dry rotted, causing water to leak into the driver's side foot wells. my most recent problem has been been the front passenger side window regulator. my back driver's side window has been broken since i got the car, but this wa sa new problem. apparently, you could not buy just the window regulator, and you have to buy the motor as well. i'm tired of the car, and it was unfortunate because i love driving it. it was a nice looking car. all of these problems happene dthe last year, and it cost me over $3,500 usd to have them fixed.  view

Brakes failed on two occasions within a week. brake failure lasted for about 10 seconds and then brakes returned. during that time the dashboard warning lights lit up and a loud buzzer went off. was able to stop the with great difficulty. fortunately neither incident required an emergency stop.  view

Plastic bracket that holds the three rear red lights on the tailgate, keeps breaking. it has been replaced twice.  view

Electrical system:ignition:module failure caused overheating of the engine. the engine stalled while on the interstate highway. this could have caused an accident as lost all power steering and power brakes. auto mobile was 2000 saab 9-5 with a v-6 reference recall notice 05v399000, saab denies this vehicle was under the recall.  view

Tl contact owns a 2002 ford escape. while driving at any speed, the brakes grind when stopping the vehicle. the abs warning indicator light also illuminates. the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who stated that the vehicle needed two front axles and two abs sensors. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in any recall. the current mileage is 55,600 and failure mileage was 55,400.  view

I am the owner of a 2005 ford ranger there was a problem with the transmission. it was taken to the dealer after approximately 5 days we were able to pick the ford up and the transmission was replaced. shortly after this the vehicle started to shut down while driving for no apparent reason .during one of these times it shut down i was rear ended,it was taken back to the dealer was there for 3 days, and they said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle as they could not duplicate the problem the dealer informed me the vehicle had no problems, and was very safe to drive. also, i contacted ford , and was informed there have been no other complaints of the 2005 ford ranger just shutting down. this vehicle was far from safe not only for the driver and any passengers but also for other drivers on the road. as it just shut off when it wantedf.  view

I bought the eqinox in the end of february 2005. i noticed a sour smell, and had the dealer clean interior because of the rotten smell. the smell persisted, and the dealer had the coolant system flushed and said that would cure the problem. then , when the weather warmed up and i turned on the vent light steam would come out of the vents and moisture on the window inside. i had the car in the shop again for 5 days, and they said they could not find anything wrong. they had flushed the system again and the smell was still there. two weeks later the engine light came on. i took it back to the originals dealer, and they determined the heater core was gone and they replaced it and seemed to run fine , except it seemed to run hot and would leave a large puddle. i complained, but the dealer told me that it was normal, and that all was okay. last month in may 2007 every time i stopped the temperature gauge would climb so the dealer replaced the thermostat. 3 weeks later the gauge would hit red every time i would stop at a light. i brought it back again this time they said the head gaskets were shot. i contacted chevrolet, and they were supposed to gave me the parts, but it still cost $918.00 since now i was out of warranty. i have spoken to several mechanics, and they claimed the engine heads warped due to the heater core problems in the beginning, and that if i had a private repairman repair the gaskets the job would have coasted $1000, and chevrolet did not give me any real break.  view

For no apparent reason, my 1995 honda pilot decideded on it's own to apply the left front brakes on a smooth straight two way road. this pulled the car across the divider into oncoming traffic. it only lasted a second or two so i was able to steer back into the correct lane before hitting anything. it happened a few more times in the next week, and eventually the vsa light started to illuminate when the car started. i took it to the dealer and they want $1000 to replace a defective yaw sensor. is this the same yaw sensor involved in the kia sportage recall (number 05v120000)? why does the vsa still try to operate with a failed sensor?  view

It is funny we have had two gmc yukon xl in our family and the speedodimeter has stop working in both. there must be a problem with theses. please let me know if there is a recall and why not? it seems from what we were told at the dealership that this is a problem. it happens when the cars just go out of warranty.  view

2001 malibu. theft system light comes on constantly. atleast 1x a week. i have followed teh turn to acc until light shuts off, turn off and then try and start, but this is time consuming. now when the car does start the fuel gauge says i am empty, radio will not work, acc and heater will not work and if and when it kicks on the car makes a weird sound.  view

I have had this vehicle for 7 years and have always had problems with cooling system losing antifreeze. now i am told the intake manifold gasket has been needs replaced.  view

Transmission surges /slips accompanied by "check engine" light. this is second occurrence for this condition. first event deal replaced o2 sensor and transmission fluid and surging/slipping ceased. new event of surging/slipping occurred without prior symptom but at a much greater severity.  view

Altitude-related stalling and surging. when increasing elevation by approx 1500 feet or more, bike will stall coming out of corners or at low loads when applying throttle below 3500 rpms. increasing throttle opening does nothing for approx 2-3 seconds and then motor suddenly surges. very dangerous in traffic or slick pavement situations. problem appears to go away when motor is shut off and turned back on again. problem progressively returns when elevation increases, becoming undrivable until another shut-off. took bike to dealer with complaint. yamaha rep states owner must pay $75.00/hr for tech to ride bike until problem is replicated, despite numerous complaints of similar instances on internet user groups. no resolution as yet.  view

While driving about 40-45 mph, driver noticed smoke coming from the back area of vehicle. when driver stopped to check out conditions, there was a fire coming from under the vehicle, and the whole front end of the vehicle burned. the vehicle was totalled.  view

Severe engine surging and complete loss of power when riding through varying altitudes. bike acts like it's running out of gas and loses all power for 1-3 seconds then power comes on suddenly almost like wow. very dangerous when it occurs in corners as it's completely unpredictable to the point where the motorcycle is not operable.  view

I own a 2000 jaguar s-type with only 42k miles on it. i drive it only about 6 weeks a year as it is stored the rest of the year. my transmission is gone! my car has only been serviced by the piehler jaguar dealership. without warning, the "gearshift box fault" light came on; the engine would bang and drag into gears. i was told that the gear shift box was sealed therefore disallowing anyone to add transmission fluid. since my car has only been serviced by jaguar, why wouldn't the service manager have indication that the transmission was going. i asked the service manager if there has been any recalls on the jaguar transmission, and he told me no. that was not true as i have found recalls concerning the jaguar s-type transmissions. however, the jaguar manager wants customer to pay instead of dealer-pay for the replacement of a new transmission. the price quoted to me is $4,000 plus tax. i had the deluxe extended warranty and when it ran out, this dealership refused to renew another extended warranty. a car of this cost and caliber should not have transmission problems with mileage under 50,000 miles. i would like the jaguar /dealership/ or ford to replace the transmission due to the defective design in the transmission design. the car's error message indicated "gear shift box fault". i've been told that the jaguar transmissions were built by jaguar/bec transmissions with a flaw in the design. the jaguar dealership i have my car at is piehler jaguar in rochester, ny. the service manager's name is brian. the telephone number is 585.671.7909. i would like to have my car repaired due to this fault in transmission design and paid for by the dealership or ford or jaguar. please advise. thank you. barbara postell 2000 jaguar s-type owner.  view

On cold starts with my 335i sedan, car would take 5-6 seconds to start. happened after 1,950 miles, consecutive mornings and evenings. brought the car into the shop. they reset the computer and discovered a failed fuel pump. part is on back order, still not eta on arrival and car has been in the shop for over 3 weeks now.  view

I bought the eqinox in the end of february 2005. i noticed a sour smell, and had the dealer clean interior because of the rotten smell. the smell persisted, and the dealer had the coolant system flushed and said that would cure the problem. then , when the weather warmed up and i turned on the vent light steam would come out of the vents and moisture on the window inside. i had the car in the shop again for 5 days, and they said they could not find anything wrong. they had flushed the system again and the smell was still there. two weeks later the engine light came on. i took it back to the originals dealer, and they determined the heater core was gone and they replaced it and seemed to run fine , except it seemed to run hot and would leave a large puddle. i complained, but the dealer told me that it was normal, and that all was okay. last month in may 2007 every time i stopped the temperature gauge would climb so the dealer replaced the thermostat. 3 weeks later the gauge would hit red every time i would stop at a light. i brought it back again this time they said the head gaskets were shot. i contacted chevrolet, and they were supposed to gave me the parts, but it still cost $918.00 since now i was out of warranty. i have spoken to several mechanics, and they claimed the engine heads warped due to the heater core problems in the beginning, and that if i had a private repairman repair the gaskets the job would have coasted $1000, and chevrolet did not give me any real break.  view

I read about the recall on the 2007 wrangler and nitros. it sounded like the same problem. i had loss of engine power several times, similar to running out of gasoline. most times it would not stall, but if at slow speeds or at a stop the engine would completely quit. one turn of the key would start it up again. now that i saw similar symptoms being recalled for another jeep i wanted to file a formal notice of the problem before i or another person ended up stalling at a traffic light and getting hurt. please note that the incident date below is when i first had a full stall.  view

Air conditioning and heating system stopped working intermittently for the last four years. we have done regular maintenance on this religiously. this last time, it was making a knocking sound and barely made it into my driveway. upon getting it to my mechanic, was told that the water pump and fuel pump were both going out and that the head gasket was toast, and that they would not work on it because the engines are notoriously bad and not worth it. sludge build up was also present. engine is now blown, and we still owe money on this thing!  view

Indicator lights flashed. malfunction indicator lamp stayed on. at 2,644 miles, 12 v. battery dead & replaced. i was told to keep the gas tank half or a quarter full or the reserve gas tank would cause the car to run on battery. the battery might have died because the car sat too long before it was sold/at 8,879 miles, i went in. after filling the gas tank & taking out the nozzle, gas spewed & bubbled out. the car stalled while driving slowly & while in park. indicator lights flashed. the malfunction indicator lamp and master warning lights stayed on. it took 5 min. to turn off the car. i started the car. those lights stayed on. i was told i left the "trunk door" open & ran down the battery. (not true.) there is a gasket around the access hole and if a person "is a little bit off," the gas will regurgitate. (i was not " off" & did not top off the tank.) they reprogrammed the computer. the gas tank had not been filled so i knew they did not fill the gas tank and try to recreate the situation as they said they would. i bought gas at a different pump. i stopped at a stop light. i could feel a loss of power in the car. when i pushed the gas pedal, the car would not move. i turned the car off and on 3 times before it would move. it crept slowly through the intersection as the traffic signal turned red. i took the car in at 8,936 miles. i was told if my problem is associated with the battery that was taken out of my car, it is not at repair person's responsibility because he did not touch my battery. when a battery is disconnected for a certain amount of time, if something is not reset, it could cause problems. then, he said no trouble found/my car stalled and/or had a loss of power. i took it in at 9,014 miles. no trouble found. i was told that my problems could have been caused by a faulty gas pump overfilling my tank. the gas station is new. the manager said the pumps were inspected. if there were a faulty pump, everyone would have problems.  view

Tl* - the contact purchased a 1999 audi a6. on march 19, 2007. the contact explained that on march 20, 2007 the check engine light turned on for the first time ,and that there was burnt smell coming from the engine. the dealer stated that there was air in the gas lines. on march 21, 2007 the air conditioner stopped working. on march 22, 2007 the check engine light turned on a second time. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the contact was told that the air conditioner needed to be repaired, and that the engine hoses needed to be tuned. on march 24, 2007 the vehicle would not start. the dealership transported the vehicle back to the repair shop. the contact was told that this problem was due to a bad battery, the hoses were adjusted. they were only waiting on the parts for the air conditioner. the contact had informed them that there continued to be a strong burnt smell coming from the engine. on march 31, 2007 the contact took the vehicle back to the dealership to have worked on the air condition unit. on april 1 the contact heard a loud fan noise from under the hood when she started the vehicle. on april 4, 2007 the contact called the dealer and was told that all vehicles go through a 25 point inspection before sales. on april 7 the vehicle was taken to a professional dealer, where the contact was informed that there were leaks on the front and the back of the engine. all engine cam seals, hoses, and abs module need to be replaced . the repair costs would come to over $5000.00. the contact wanted to file a complaint against americar trading company 501 north thompson, spring dale ar, 72764 (479-927-0333) since they did not report that these problems existed on the vehicle prior to the sale. the dealer has not returned the contacts calls after this last failure. the failure mileage was 120,049, and the current mileage was 121,594. updated 07/17/07.  view

2003 toyota sequoia factory jack failed resulting in vehicle crashing down*** the gear inside the jack broke into 3 pieces which caused the failure and the suv to fall down.  view

While driving a 2000 f-250 ford pickup right rear firestone tire blew out. we had over $3,000 damages to the box and exhaust of the pickup. we replaced tire ourselves and insurance paid for damages to pickup. we have pictures and insurance company has pictures and still have what was left of the tire that blew out. do not have parts of pickup that were replaced.  view

The car seems to have a temperature related fuel leak that always occurs in cool or cold weather and makes no difference if the engine is cold or warm. there is an extremely strong fuel odor in the passenger cabin, so much so that windows must be rolled down in cold weather. the car is off warranty and i've had it in to my mechanic who can't locate a problem. he suggested tightening the fuel cap very snugly after refueling but this has made no difference. the smell occurs almost daily in weather below 35-40 degrees. the car is in good condition and was inspected for pin holes, loose connections in the emissions/fuel system but nothing was found. i occasionally see one or two spots of what smells like gas on the garage floor. i am surprised at the number of similar complaints and that subaru has not taken this seriously.  view

While the car was parked in the driveway during the day i came outside to find a 12 inch crack that started at the top near the rearview mirror and curved towards the 'side.there was no impact from any road elements.the crack wasn't there when we drove the car home that day.appeared while sitting outside.  view

Driving i-75 south in georgia, sunday afternoon, june 10, 2007, the air conditioning system stopped working, traveling to jacksonville, fl. calling from the highway on a cell phone to the dealership, we were instructed to call the hyundai assistance 800 number. upon connection was given the names and phone numbers of two hyundai dealerships in jacksonville, fl. on monday, june 11 am, took the vehicle to key buick, hyunday in jacksonville for service. several hours later, we were informed that the ac condenser was damaged and not a warranty item, the repair was estimated at $750. the cause of the failure, according to the service manager, was some item damaged the condenser and using his words "probably road debris" passing through the grill. he continued the explanation that there are not barriers that would prevent small items from passing through the grill and damaging the condenser and radiator while traveling on the highways. asking the service manager if this could happen again, he replied yes. the failure of hyundai to foresee, design and provide any type of screen barrier behind the grill allows any type of debris to cause harm to the condenser or radiator at any time. the vehicle was repaired on june 14 by key buick hyundai in jacksonville, fl. i offer a solution that a small amount of hardware cloth attached to the back of the grill would deflect most all debris and protect the condenser and radiator from damage while still allowing ample air flow. hardly a happy traveling period with 3 days of negotiating with two dealerships rick case hyundai in duluth, ga. & key buick hyundai in jacksonville, no vehicle availability and frustrating expenses.  view

Tl contact owns a 2000 dodge stratus. while driving 30 mph, the contact noticed smoke coming from underneath the hood. the vehicle was taken to the mechanic who replaced a valve gasket. after leaving the repair shop, the smoke was visible again and the vehicle suddenly caught fire. the mechanic stated that the cause of failure appeared to be the power steering hose. the failure is the same as noted in nhtsa recall # 06v001000 (steering:hydraulic power assist:hose, piping, and connections). the manufacturer sent out an investigator to determine the cause of the fire. the current and failure mileages were 125,000.  view

I contacted general motors about a recall on this vehicle. it has to do with the hazard signal, preventing the turn signals from working correctly. it only works intermittently. they had recalled the 2000 pontiac grand am, which was the car i drive because of this defect. when i called them they told me that the vehicle's was not recalled due to the vin. since this is a defect, and can endanger my life i think they should fix the car for free. i can't afford to get this fixed on my own. as you well know the dealerships charges a lot of money to fix anything on the car. i can't buy a new hazard signal from autozone or o'reiley's auto parts, and just have my friend put it on since the only place one can purchase this particular hazard signal is from the dealership. i wonder why? i am being sarcastic!. there has been no incident/accident as of yet.  view

The drc (dynamic ride control) suspension on the 2003 audi rs6 has failed twice. the only symptom was a banging undercarriage rattle, but others had handling problems. drc failure was rampant as a subject for threads on owner forums, and it was the subject of an article in the march issue of autometrix, a british publication, the first page of which could be found here: http://www.rs6.com/forum/attachment.php? =5172&d=1181644759. since the drc failures occurred at 32,000 and 50,000 miles i expected more failures in the future. but while the first two repairs were covered under factory warranty which has expired. thus, i feared i will have to pay next time, and the cost to replace the entire system may be as high as $6500 according to forum postings. an aftermarket alternative was available, per the linked article above, but even it costs about $4000, and it was too new to determine its longevity. to me this was an obvious defect in audi design that coud lead to handling problems, audi should step up to the plate for all owners. so far they have refused to do so despite a 3/22/06 letter to me from a representative at audi of america hq in rochester hills, mi, in which he acknowledge "having handled multiple repairs with this system. to be fair, aoa did extend the warranty for a year, but that was because i had so many problems with the car, including downt ime of up to one month. audi should at least extend their warranty for the drc component to all owners, as they did when owners reported widespread failures of the maf filter on the audi s4 for the 2000 model year. that response was exemplary! drc has become such a widely publicized issue that i am sure it was contributing to dramatic resale value declines in the past few months. audi needed to know that if rs6 owners get no satisfaction buyers of their onetimeflagship" sedan will be flocking elsewhere next time they shop.  view

Plastic bushing on transmission cable broke. have to buy the entire cable ($240), plastic "bushing" is not available to purchase by itself - but the cable is not broken, only the plastic "bushing." saturn doesn't even have a part number for that part. found information on the internet where other saturn owners had the same problem, so it is apparently a common occurrence. reference website: http://www.coolgoose.com/sites/flemco/car/car.html for a detailed description of this saturn owner's experience (same as mine, except my transmission was stuck in first gear). i may also be posting my incident on the internet to my blog, so as to warn people who are looking to purchase a saturn.  view

While driving vehicle on the high way about 55 mph the engine check light came on. stepping on the brake pedal to stop vehicle the brakes did not work. after getting right off highway the brakes lost power because the engine did not run with enough power because of egr valve code 32 brakes went from power brakes to manual brakes. driver had to stand on brakes for car to stop. driver contacted dealer and they always fixed them for her.  view

Front and rear rims on my 2005 nissan 350z broke and required replacement. a total of 5 rims cracked on my car. it required me to replace the nissan rims with after market rims.  view

2007 toyota camry se. i noticed film started to peel off from my front and rear windshield. i am unsure what caused it but it really poises a tremendous hazard. it distorts the view of the driver and may lead to traffic accidents. i hope there are no other cars with the same issues. the dealer, longo toyota, indicated this was a manufacturers defect and would replace both windshields.  view

My black 2001 eclipse gt paint is failing. it began as a small white smudge looking spot on the roof of the car, but has spread to the entire hood, roof and trunk. the paint seems to just break down from inside. it's not cracking but is changing color from black to white like the sun is bleaching it out. it looks as if acid or bleach had been poured on my car. i'm now forced to pay thousands to have it sanded down and repainted, but there's no alternative.  view

2007 jeep wrangler 4-door 6000 miles. first incident: sunny clear dry road conditions. took exit ramp off expressway and while attempting to stop at intersection the brakes failed. pedal went to the floor and jeep did not stop. after pumping brakes with no response i had to stop jeep by shifting into park. i was able to drive it, with brakes functioning less than a half mile home. i had the jeep towed (covered by warranty) the next morning. dealer inspected and test drove without being able to repeat problem. conclusion was no problem. second incident: sunny clear dry road conditions. took exit ramp off expressway and while attempting to stop at intersection the brakes failed. this time i held brakes to floor and the brakes eventually "kicked-in" and stopped the jeep. this time i drove to dealer and after another inspection of the jeep there was no problem found?!? fortunately, both incidents did not result in any accidents as i was able to stop the jeep prior to entering the intersection. i'm praying there isn't a 3rd incident!  view

Looked at my front tires on my 2005 pontiac gto and noticed that they are worn down on the inside strut side almost to the steel belt. i looked on the rear wheels and noticed a similar wear on the inside of the tire from when those tires were on the front. if i wouldn't have noticed this, i could have had a blow out. the wear is terrible. the vehicle is new with low miles. the vehicle now has 21,000 miles and apparently has been doing this since i bought it over a year ago. nothing has been done yet to correct this issue. i am in lingo on what to do. the old parts are definitely still available and can be made available upon request.  view

I replaced the transmission in my 2001 ford contour in august, 2006. it is now june, 2007 and the transmission needs replacing again!!! i have heard from several people with contours that this is a common problem with that particular make/model. they have all gotten rid of theirs because of this major problem.  view

2007 honda civic hybrid cvt with less than 100 miles on it---transmission would not engage despite high revving during interstate rush hour traffic and caused serious traffic hazard as had to coast off road amid traffic.  view

Tl contact owns a 2001 mitsubishi montero. at 16,000 miles, the vehicle was repaired due to nhtsa recall campaign # 01v254001 (service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum). when attempting to brake, the contact heard a loud pitched beep coming from the left side of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the mechanic who stated that the accumulator was leaking similar to the failure noted in recall # 01v254001. the current mileage is 68,611 and failure mileage was 68,611. the consumer provided a copy of invoice for repair. updated 06/08/07  view

This is to inform you of a known problem with the 4l60e transmissions in the 1997 and up gm truck transmissions, the symptoms include the hard shift from first gear to second gear, and the slipping of the transmission in overdrive. in this truck the tachometer usually is at 1500-1600 rpms 65 mph, but with the mil light, engine check light, it is running at 2000-2100 rpms, causing massive fuel consumption. this is due to a faulty valve in the transmission this is also the main cause in the transmissions failure due to overheating caused by the slippage. if you don't believe this, google code p01870 represents transmission slippage. just go to any transmission shop and aks them how many of the 4l60e transmissions they have rebuilt... this item needs to be investigated!!!!! gm says they know nothing about it but there is a tsb for it the remedy is a transmission rebuild only to fail again the problem exists in the valve body!! there are enough cases of this problem to be investigated a few other common issues, the 4x4 switch, intake manifold gaskets leaking in the 5.7, fuel injector "spider" lines rubbing together, carrier bearings, door bushings , steering speed sensor is a faulty design causing a feeling of the wheel jerking to one side usually during a gradual right hand turn. this can result in oversteering by the driver, could result in an accident. the tail light circuit board, these issues need to be resolved not just brushed under the carpet like gm is trying to do!!! the transmission alone can cost upwards of $2000 to replace and unless the shop knows whats going on the problem will return costing another $2000 to the owner! or he will just sell it to someone else who will have to do it all over again!! if you are just looking this up for info and are experiencing this problem post it on here for all to see. the nhtsa needs to see real numbers to act!!!!  view
