Polaris Industries has announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2008 550 LX Trail Touring and Trail Touring Deluxe snowmobiles. They stated that cracks could form in the starter ring gear and cause the ring gear to fracture into several peices. The peices could be propelled out of the chasis at high speed causing serious injury or death to the rider and or bystanders.

Snowmobile and motorcycle maker Polaris Industries Inc is recalling around 28,000 snowmobiles because of a fire hazard related to the fuel tank, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Tuesday.
