Land Rover has announced that they are recalling certain models of the 2009 Range Rover vehicles.  They stated that during the installation process it was identified that primer, applied by an automated glazing robot, was not being dispensed onto the glass.  This omission can lead to the chemical bonding between the primer and the polyurethane adhesive not being activated and therefore the windshield not chemically bonded to the vehicle.  Where the windshield is not chemically bonded, water could enter the vehicle and/or there may be increased wind noise.

Full windshield retention may not be achieved in the event of an airbag deployment or during a vehicle crash.  This increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.  Dealers will inspect the rear tailgate glass for the presence of primer and will prime the windshield glass as needed and free of charge.  The recall bagan on July 17, 2009.  Owners may contact Land Rover at 1-800-637-6837.

Land Rover has announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2003 through 2005 Range Rover vehicles.  They stated that the front differential coupling sleeve and the propeller shaft may be misaligned, resulting in spline wear over a period of time.  As the wear between the propeller shaft and the differential spline coupling processes, noise and vibration are expected.

Continued vehicle operation can eventually result in the splines shearing and a loss of drive, increasing the risk of a crash.  Dealers will install a revised design of the propeller shaft, the flange kit, and the heat shield kit.   The recall is expected to begin on or about January6 2009.  Owners may contact Land Rover at 1-800-637-6837.

Land Rover has announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2008 Land Rover LR3. They are recalling certain after market Thule hitch style bicycle racks with fold down style bike arms. A pinch bolt exists between the bike arm bracket and the upright assembly of the hitch style bicycle rack.

When moving the bike arm bracket to its down position, this pinch point has the potential of causing a severe laceration or amputation to the users fingertips or hand. Thule will notify owners and provide a repair kit and instructions free of charge. The recall began on June 20th 2007. Owners can contact Thule at 1-800-848-5391.

The pic isn’t anything official from Solihull, but it is reportedly based on reality. The fine fellows at Jalopnik found this little Rangie, which looks to be about the same size as the VW Tiguan. We’re digging the exoskeleton look with bold Rover family cues like the large vents ahead of the doors. The three-door shape makes for an aggressive profile, though it creates some ingress and egress challenges on a small, tall vehicle. We’re guessing that it won’t be much of an issue for the targeted younger buyer. If you have a bum hip or are generally no longer very limber, you may want to try before you buy, that’s all we’re saying. Keep your eyes peeled for a concept soon to gauge public response to this coupey-looking light-duty ute. The go-ahead may come within the next couple of years, and the actual car would drop around 2013. We’re not sure that CUVs will be the hot thing six years on, but if response is big, perhaps plans will accelerate.
