2006 INFINITI QX56 Recall

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

 images.jpeg

Nissan has announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2005 through 2006 Titan, Armada, and Infinity QX56 manufactured after March 17, 2005, that are equipped a Visteon air conditioning condenser fan motor.  The fan motor may not be properly sealed allowing excessive water intrusion and inadequate drainage of moisture.

This could cause corrosion in the motor leading to overheating and a fire.  Dealers will install a ‘Thermal Protector Kit’ and test the air conditioning condensor fan motor and replace it if necessary.  The recall began on August 2, 2008.  Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

Bicycle Racks on the Nissan and Infiniti Recalled

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Nissan North America, Inc., a unit of Japan’s Nissan Motors, said Wednesday that it and Infiniti are conducting a voluntary recall campaign on 480 Hitch Mounted Bicycle Racks manufactured by Thule and sold at both Nissan and Infiniti dealerships before December 21, 2007.
Thule determined that a pinch point exists on the bicycle rack, which could cause a serious hand injury.

The recall affects only Hitch Mounted Bicycle Racks, with Nissan / Infiniti part number 999R5-AR000, manufactured by Thule before June 27, 2007 and sold at either Nissan or Infiniti dealerships before December 21, 2007.

2008 INFINITI EX35 Recall

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

images12.jpeg

Nissan North America has announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2008 Infiniti EX35. The recall covers 16,365 of my 2008 Infiniti EX35 and my 2009 Nissan Murano vehicles. Due to incorrect software programming, the air bag control unit (ACU) may cause the passenger air bag not to operate as designed if the vehicle battery becomes significantly discharged.

This could result in the passenger air bag not inflating in a crash in which it was designed to do so, and increasing risk of injury. Dealers will reprogram the ACU in affected vehicles. The recall is expected to begin during February 2008. Owners may contact Infiniti at 1-800-662-6200 or Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.

Infiniti

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

250px-infiniti_fx45.jpg

Infiniti is a Japanese brand used by Nissan, an automobile manufacturer and serves as Nissan’s luxury brand to the American, Canadian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, South Korean and Taiwanese markets. Nissan also has plans to release Infiniti into many European markets (Russia & Ukraine in 2007, United Kingdom in 2008 [1]), China (10 dealerships by 2007), as well as in Japan sometime after 2008.
Early Infiniti vehicles had their own, unique platform, but most are now based on the same automobile platforms as Nissan models. In some cases, similar vehicles are sold as upscale Nissans in the same market, while other Infinitis are rebadged models from the Japanese market, where Nissan’s model range includes high-end luxury vehicles. More recently, the differentiation between Nissan and Infiniti vehicles has become greater, and even where two models may share a similar platform, Infinitis tend to feature more powerful engines, tuned suspensions, steering systems, and more luxurious interior appointments such as heated and cooled seats, Bose audio systems, and voice recognition control to operate vehicle systems.
Infiniti’s model name designation includes one letter for coupés and sedans (two letters for SUVs) and a number reflecting engine displacement. For example, the QX56 is an SUV featuring a 5.6 L engine and the Q45 is Infiniti’s flagship sedan, although production for this model is planned to cease in 2007, featuring a 4.5 L engine. The one exception to this was the QX4 SUV, which featured a 3.3 L engine (1997-2000) and later a 3.5 L engine (2001-2003). An ‘x’ following the engine displacement of Infiniti sedans denotes an all wheel drive model (e.g. Infiniti G35x) with the exception of a few FX35 vehicles that were rear wheel drive only.

Infiniti giving free rides in NYC

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

by Alex Nunez

g35rear.jpg

This weekend, if your Christmas shopping exploits bring you to the WIRED Magazine store in SoHo, be advised that you might be able to snag a lift to your next destination in one of Infiniti’s new G35 sedans. It’s all part of a perfect marketing storm created when corporate synergies and Thanksgiving weekend shopping plans collide. The resultant Category 5 promo campaign is called “WIRED Wheels.”

You see, if you make a purchase at the WIRED store, you’ll be given the chance to be whisked to the next stop on your list in a Bluetooth-enabled G35. During your ride, you’ll be encouraged to try out the AskMeNow mobile Q&A service on one of Motorola’s new KRZR phones from Sprint. The ultimate goal, short of getting you to immediately go out and buy a new G35 and Sprint phone, is to get you to click on the ads served up with the AskMeNow service’s answers. From there, you can formally opt into a promo so that Infiniti can market to you directly.

We’re guessing that for most of the people taking part in the “WIRED Wheels” program, everything stated to them after the words “free ride” will be white noise, and they’ll use their own phones to gab with friends as the Infiniti delivers them to their next shopping destination.

Thanks Jake for the tip!
