2007 HONDA CIVIC Recall

Friday, March 7th, 2008

images3.jpeg

American Honda Motor Company announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2007 Honda civic. They stated that on certain sedan and hybrid (CNG) vehicles, during assembly, the telescoping steering column mechanism may have been over lubricated with silicone grease. Over time, some of this extra grease may drip on the brake light switch causing the switch to fail.

Failure may result in a loss of brake lights and increased risk that the vehicle could be struck in the rear. In addition, a failed brake light switch could prevent shifting the transmission from the park position (vehicles with an automatic transmission).

Dealers will replace the brake light switch and install a protective cover over the switch free of charge. The recall began on October 2nd, 2007. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

Honda To Recall Defective Sedans In China

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Honda Motor (China) is to recall 425 cars exported to China to fix power steering hose problems, quality officials said on Tuesday.

According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), the recall covers 425 Acura 06 TL sedans manufactured between June 2005 and September 2006.

The recall will start on March 26, the AQSIQ said. Neither the agency nor the company mentioned whether there have been customer complaints.

The sedans involved were found to have defects in their power steering hose, which may cause hose cracks and fluid leaks. Serious leaks would cause safety trouble, the company said in a statement on its website.

The company will offer free replacements for customers and install heat resistant jacket outside the hose.

2008 Acura TL Recall

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Honda North America has issued two separate recalls for about half a million Acura TL sedans over possible fires under the hood and fix problems with the windshield wiper motor. One recall covers 373,000 vehicles from the 2004 through 2008 model years. Honda says prolonged high temperatures under the hood could cause the power steering hose to deteriorate, causing the hose to crack and leak power steering fluid.

So far, it says no fires or injuries have been reported. A second recall covers 130,000 TLs from the 2004 and 2005 model years for a potential failure of the circuit breaker inside the windshield wiper motor.
