Ford F-Series Seat Recall

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 100,000 2008 F-Series trucks in Canada and the United States because the front driver’s seat does not conform with strength standards for seat backs.

Ford says the weld connecting a bracket and the driver’s seat back could crack. The recall covers F-250 through F-550 Super Duty trucks. More than 87,000 of the trucks are in the U.S. and 14,000 in Canada. A Ford official in the U.S. says no injuries have been reported because of the problem. Ford discovered the issue after receiving reports of the weld cracking.

2007 FORD F150 Recall

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Ford Motor Company has announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2007 Ford F150. They stated that certain headlamp assemblies imported and sold as after market equipment by sonar auto parts for use on 2004 through 2007 Ford F150 pickup trucks. During production, the headlamps were internally misaligned and they fail the photometry requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard No. 108, lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.

The purpose of this standard is to reduce traffic crashes and deaths and injuries by providing adequate illumination of the roadway. Sonar will notify owners and offer a full reimbursement for any non compliant headlamps. The recall began on December 14, 2007. Owners can contact Sonar at 1-866-558-4264.

Ignoring recall can cause truck fires

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Some Ford trucks weren’t built tough enough to resist fire.

Two F-150 s have already gone ablaze in Bentonville - and both instances could have been prevented if the owners had paid attention to Ford’s recall notice.

In 2005, Ford Motor Co. issued a safety recall to address fires related to the speed-control switch in various 2000 and 2001-model Ford F-150 s, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators, as well as trucks from the 2001 F-Series.

City Fire Inspector James Birchfield said both truck fires started while the trucks were stationary and sitting in driveways. One of the fires spread to a house.

The speed-control switch in question includes a diaphragm that, when it fails, releases brake fluid into the engine compartment of the vehicle, creating a fire hazard, Birchfield said.

According to the Ford Web site, www.ford.com, the recall affects 792, 000 automobile owners - and has warranted demand for replacement parts to the point that Ford is experiencing a shortage in the parts.

Meanwhile, owners can head to the local Ford dealership and have the switch disabled to eliminate the risk of fire.

To find out if a particular vehicle is included in the recall, go to www.ford.com, then enter the vehicle’s identification number.
