2008 JEEP WRANGLER Recall

Monday, May 12th, 2008

images4.jpeg

Chrysler is recalling certain models of the 2007-2008 Jeep Wrangler, right hand drive only, vehicles. Some vehicles may have insufficient clearance between the steering intermediate shaft and rear brake tubes.

Prolonged brake tube contact could wear a hole in the tube and cause a partial brake system loss. This could cause a crash without warning.

Dealers will install a revised brake tube clip to retain the tubes, inspect the brake tubes for damage due to potential contact with the steering intermediate shaft, and replace the brake tubes if necessary. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule for this campaign. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.

Electrical Issues Lead To A Chrysler Recall

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

images6.jpeg

Chrysler on Tuesday announced a global recall of 212,347 Chrysler Sebrings and Dodge Avengers, including nearly 15,000 in Canada, to fix electrical connectors.

The company says the connectors in the engines may become corroded and short-circuit, causing engine stalling, dead batteries and failing cruise control. No accidents or injuries have been reported though the company has received nine reports of engines failing.

The recall affects model year 2007 and 2008 cars with tire pressure monitoring systems.

Dealers will begin repairing the connectors in mid-April.

Daimler Recalls Diesel Car Models In US

Monday, January 28th, 2008

images18.jpeg

German carmaker Daimler, which has joined a push to convince US motorists to drive diesel cars, said it was recalling an unspecified number to fix an engine part.

A spokesman in Stuttgart said 2007 M-Class, GL-Class and R-Class cars as well as the E 320 Bluetec model were affected.

He declined to confirm a report in a German weekly, Automobilwoche, which quoted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) saying about 9,000 cars were involved.

A crankshaft sensor in the cars could cause a loss of power and in some case the engines would not start.

Currently only six per cent of cars sold in the United States are diesel powered, with many shoppers convinced hybrid power from Japanese makers offers better fuel savings than the thrifty diesels.

Chrysler LLC has filed a report to China’s quality regulator to recall 1,371 units of its Grand Cherokee and Commander cars in the mainland due to defects in its brakes.

According to a statement on the website of a quality inspection sub-agency under the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the recall of the cars is due to defects in the software controlling its braking system and flawed braking parts.
The cars were built between January 2005 and July 2007.
