2009 Bentley Continental FS Speed Recall

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

 images3.jpeg

Bentley has announced that they will be recalling certain models of the 2009 Continental Flying Spur and Continental Flying Spur Speed Vehicles.  They stated that there is the potential for the center rear seat belt upper guide bracket to distort in the event of a frontal impact.  This distortion could result in the center rear seat occupant traveling further forwards than the design intends.

In the event of a crash, a seat occupant may not be properly restrained increasing the risk of personal injury.  Dealers will replace the seat belt guide bracket free of charge.  Owners can contact Bentley at 1-617-488-8500.

2008 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GTC Recall

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

images9.jpeg

Bentley is recalling certain models of the 2004 through 2008 Continental GT, Continental GT Speed, Continental Flying Spur, and Continental GTC Vehicles. There is the potential for road salt to corrode the outer surface of the fuel filter. This could lead to the filter housing becoming porous with a corresponding fuel leak.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel filter and reposition the retaining clip on all affected vehicles. The recall is expected to begin on or about May 30, 2008. Owners may contact Bentley at 1-248-754-6464.

Bentley Blushing: Recalls 520 Arnage Models for Wheel Problems

Friday, August 17th, 2007

by John Neff
879nodescription_l2_w800_h1202.jpgSpeaking of recalls… It’s one thing for a full-line automaker like General Motors or Ford to announce a recall, as those companies produce thousands of vehicles a day. It’s quite another for a manufacturer like Bentley, which still primarily builds its entire lineup by hand, to announce a recall. The company from Crewe is reportedly recalling 520 examples of its ultra expensive Arnage that were built over the last 18 months due to incorrect bolts being used to attach the wheels, which could come loose as a result.

Bentley has reportedly already contacted owners of the affected vehicles, who no doubt include a number of wealthy and famous people who were bothered to discover their $221,000 sedan has issues. One of the reasons for paying that much for a car is so you don’t have to deal with recalls like the rest of us schlubs. But we’ll give Bentley a break, as anyone can have a bad day… for 18 months.

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

3536-03.jpg
Bentley has recalled 520 Azure and Arnage models amid fears that wheels could come loose while the cars are being driven.

Incorrect wheel bolts were reportedly attached to wheels, resulting in rattling on the £220,000 Bentleys.

The models affected by the recall were the Azure and the Arnage R, T and RL and were produced between February 2005 and August last year.

Famous customers include David Beckham, Gordon Ramsey and Elton John.

Bentley Brooklands sells out

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

by Chris Shunk

If you have at least $330,000 to spend on your next new car, and you’ve got an eye on the new Bentley Brooklands, you’d better get your order in before they’re all gone. The first 140 are already spoken for, which equates to the first year of production. Any new orders will have to wait two years before the order is filled.

Production of the 530hp ultraluxury will only hit 550 units during its three-year run, and the Brooklands will most certainly meet that quota. Bentley marketing director Stuart McCullough told BusinessWeek that the incredibly low production volume of the Brooklands is due in part to the hundreds of different options available for the mega-coupe. It should also be noted that the painstaking task of creating the car itself is time-consuming, yet another reason the overall production run will be a low number. Remember that each Brooklands begins life as one of Bentley’s Azure convertibles, to which the hard roof is then hand-welded. In any case, the amazing degree to which the cars can be personalized (most Bentleys roll out of the factory with around $30,000 - $50,000 of customization…some with much, much more) will likely ensure that no two Brooklands will ever be alike. We’re not experts, but we get the feeling these 550 Bentleys will probably never depreciate much, unless, of course, Eddie Griffin takes the wheel…
