Honda has announced that they are recalling certain models of the 2001 through 2002 Accord 2 door and 4 door, 2001 through 2003 Civic 4 door, 2001 through 2002 Civic 2 door, 2002 CRV, 2002 Odyssey, 2003 Pilot, 2002 through 2003 Acura 3.2TL and 2003 Acura 3.2CL passenger vehicles.  They stated that the drivers airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure.  If an affected airbag deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.

Metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material possibly causing injury or fatality to vehicle occupants.  Dealers will replace the airbag inflator free of charge.  Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.
