General Motors has announced that they are recalling certain models of the 2009 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR, Malibu, Traverse, GMC Acadia, Pontiac G5, G6 and Saturn Aura and Outlook passenger vehicles. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 102, “Transmission shift position, sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect”, and FMVSS 114, “Theft protection and rollaway prevention”. On some of these vehicles, the transmission shift cable adjustment clip may not be fully engaged. If the clip is not fully engaged, the shift lever and the actual position of the the transmission gear may not match. With this condition, the drive could move the shifter to “park” and remove the ignition key, but the transmission gear may not be in “park”.
The driver may not be able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle could roll away after the driver has exited the vehicle, resulting in a possible crash without prior warning. Dealers will inspect and ensure the shift cable adjustment clip is fully engaged. In the event the clip does not engage, the shift cable will be replaced free of charge. Owners may contact Buick at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Pontiac at 1-800-620-7668 and Saturn at 1-800-972-8876.

GM have really lost the plot, haven’t they? Cars that don’t park, canning parts of their business… and selling new rubbish like the Chevrolet Camaro SS. Who would want to drive something that looks like that?

The Acadia is powered by a 3.6L V6 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Standard amenities include keyless remote entry, hands-free OnStar communication system, tinted glass, heated mirrors, roof rails and a rear spoiler.

I was stupid enough to purchase the “great and powerful” piece of crap ‘09 Acadia at Andy Mohr in Noblesville IN on 4-22-09.
It was already been in for rotten skunk smell from vents, power door locks which will not open, headlights which do not work. ( none of which has been corrected ) Dealer states “it is good to go now”
It is good to go see my lawyer to return this $40,000 piece of crap!
Dont be a fool, look at the recall list FIRST before you decide on the right ruby slippers to purchase!

Dear General Motors,
My name is Fred Karam and I live in the Detroit area and recently purchased a new 2009 GMC ACADIA. My vehicle has been in the dealer for 10 days because they can not seem to fix the faulty transmission.
I owe and operate an engineering firm that has done product design and engineering in the Detroit area for 20 years and am amazed at the inept ability of the dealer to fix this problem. I put my faith in GM and this is how I am repaid by purchasing an inferior product.
In addition, the transmission blew just before the 4th of July break when I was going to take my family on an extended road trip vacation. The best the dealer could do is make false promises on fixing a 6 speed transmission that is beyond their capability from both a mechanical and software programming issue.
In fact, I can not really blame the dealer to much because they rely on GM engineering to not only provide a quality product but provide direction on warranty fixes. This is the direct disconnect that engineering has with warranty and dealerships. No reason GM filed for bankruptcy and our Automotive Industry is a disaster and show of its former self.
I am disappointed in my decision to buy GM and should have purchased a FORD product.
Not only is this going to cost me, because GM will not cover all the costs of the rent a car, it cost me valuable time with my family during this tough economic time.
Sincerely,
Fred Karam
