In the finishing laps of the Spring race at Talledega, Carl Edwards probably had a different flip in mind. As they were coming around the final turn, soon to be rookie Brad Keslowski went to the inside as Edwards veered a little higher up the track. When Carl noticed that Brad was making a move, Carl went to block him not seeing that Brad already had a fender in on him. This led to the spin out, and the flip of Carl just short of the start finish line.
This crash also ended what was a awesome run for Ryan Newman who moved from Penske racing this season to join the newly formed Stewart/Haas racing with friend Tony Stewart. This just shows how strong these safe walls and fences are. This could of ended up a lot worse. At least some lucky fans get a great souvineir to take home with them.
